Sphere Mode Jumpscare

So you want to play Egyptian Gods? Why? JUST KIDDING welcome to the Egyptian God guide!! Centered around the original anime arc, the Egyptian Gods consist of three boss monsters (Loading... , Loading... , and Loading... ) with the unique DIVINE attribute and DIVINE-BEAST typing. On paper these cards function much differently than their more powerful anime counterparts, but that hasn't stopped us from finding ways to use them competitively!

In this Guide I'll cover a wide range of topics

  1. The three gods and their "in-house" dedicated support
  2. Slimey boiz
  3. Generic DIVINE support
  4. Wicked Gods, the manga spin-offs
  5. Various consistency cards and support
  6. Additional miscellaneous cards to consider
  7. 20 different deck lists and cores

Welcome to the Divine-beast family!! Unlike Konami, we'll support you no matter where you are on your Yu-Gi-Oh journey! Any questions please feel free to ask in the discord!

Core Cards

The Winged Dragon of Ra

The Winged Dragon of Ra
The legend him(?)self, this neutered form of Marik's anime powerhouse is quite possibly one of the most iconic Yu-Gi-Oh cards in the game. Featuring a well-known OTK tool, and a monster removal which contradicts said otk tool...this dragon has it all and is an incre...ok who are we kidding. It can't even be special summoned lmao.

So why is it neutered? Well, Konami had the "brilliant" idea of splitting the original effects across multiple cards, a common theme you'll see with each of the gods. While the support cards discussed are technically "support," they're really just Konami trying to quietly fix the greatest mistake they've ever made (excluding the Tearlament archetype).

The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode
An in-house Kaiju that tributes 3 monsters AND comes back to you AND summons Ra AND files your taxes? YES PLEASE! A must have in MOST (notice how I didn't say all) Ra decks, and, along with Guardian Slime, is the most common Ra specific card to be used in decks focused on the other Gods.
The Winged Dragon of Ra - Immortal Phoenix
The final piece of Ra's full anime effect. This, combined with Ra and Sphere Mode, give us the unlimted power Marik used to send countless souls to the shadow realm or something idk I'm not a scientist. That being said.....this card is the worst of the three. It can be a brick if you draw it without the right support cards, it's summoning condition is highly specific, and it won't stay on the field thanks to its end phase effect being mandatory.
Ancient Chant
A powerful piece of support that allows you search OR recycle Ra and provide an extra normal (tribute) summon. Its graveyard effect is also fantastic for otk lines. BE CAREFUL: if you summon Ra using something like Loading... , make sure you do so AFTER Chant's graveyard effect resolves. DO NOT chain crossing to chant!!
The True Sun God
This card is listed as 1 copy but you can use more copies if you play Loading... or just want the battle phase floodgate. This card is searchable though so take all this into consideration. The main focus of this card is to set up Phoenix, but decks without phoenix can still benefit thanks to its incredible search potential "Or a card that mentions it."
Millennium Revelation
A very infuriating piece of support. Its first line indicates that it's meant for all three divine-beast monsters, but quickly you realize this ENTIRE card is meant to get around one of the worst decisions Konami has ever made: Ra can't be special summoned except through effects like this. To make things worse, this card doesn't act as a monster reborn, instead you MUST play Loading... as well...
Blaze Cannon
A card meant to simulate anime nostalgia that is unfortunately unreliable in modern Yu-Gi-Oh. While in theory it has some great effects like making your Ra unaffected by your opponent's cards and letting you wipe all other monsters on the field during the battle phase...the problem is it has too many drawbacks. You need to actually have Ra on the field meaning this card does not help you set up your plays, you can only search it with True Sun God which means you need to already have Ra or a SECOND way to get Ra, and we already have a much more reliable board wipe that can't be negated...Loading... . This is unfortunately just a "win more" card that will brick you more than win games.
Dark Spell Regeneration
No need to talk about it other than it's way too slow and way too specific to see legitimate use. Any scenario you can come up with that makes you think this card is worth it is immediately invalidated by the millions of better ways to achieve your end goal.
Sun God Unification
A very odd piece of support that makes you wonder if Konami has ever even read the god cards...don't play this. The life point regeneration is fine sure whatever but your goal is to kill your opponent in as few turns or moves as possible, not almost kill them then pass back with nothing on your board...

Obelisk the Tormentor
