Introduction
Hello, I am
and I will be your guide for today. I have like one top at a sub 40 man tournament, so I'd say I'm pretty qualified to talk like I know everything about this deck, so let's get started. Thank you to the fellow Ogdo enthusiasts in the MDM discord for helping me with this guide.Ogdoadic is a graveyard based combo deck (It's a bit of a stretch to call this deck a combo deck depending on the build though) released in Ancient Guardians, a very low impact set, this deck is centred around LIGHT and DARK Reptiles and punishing and gaining advantage off of your opponent's actions.
They are based off of the Egyptian Ogdoad, primordial deities worshiped in Hermopolis
The Main Deck
The Remnants
The LIGHT Remnant, and the main starter and extender of the deck. Nunu will often be your first action in a turn, as even if it's foolish effect is negated, it can still summon itself, making normal summoning any other level 4 full combo. Keep in mind that summoning it with it's effect locks you into Reptile while its on the field, so ensure when you're summoning you have a way of unlocking yourself. As well if you are playing a significant amount of other engines and struggling for space, Nunu will likely be your best choice to cut down on.
If you already have access to Nunu's main target, Loading... or a level 4 normal summon, send the DARK Royal of your choice, personally I'd recommend Loading... as it will be likely you'll be able to summon it and get it's reborn effect off, just mind the lock.
The DARK Remnant, and the better of the two, Nauya isn't a 1 card combo on it's own but with any monster on the field, it does everything you want, making it the best extender in the deck. Its (unfortunately) the only way of searching the archetypes Spell/Traps, making it the main choke point of your combos. You will always be doing your combos to get to Nauya if you don't already have access to it.
If you already have Nauya's main foolish target, Loading... , similarly with Loading... , send a LIGHT Royal of your choice, I'd recommend you send Loading... as it's only 2 tributes, it'll be easier to get out, or send Nunu for its free summon.
The Boundless
The DARK Boundless, Zohah is probably the most mid card you have to play, it is what you will often foolish with Nunu and what makes Nunu a 1 card combo. Its second effect rarely comes up, and you will mostly only trigger it if you tribute it for Loading... , which lets him immediately hand rip. Having a monster always in your hand is nice for cards like Loading... as well.
The LIGHT Boundless, Flogos is kinda just ass, it fulfills the same role as Zohah, but is LIGHT, and Nauya has a far more important send. As well having both Zohah and Flogos in rotation is also redundant, as you can only normal once. Its second effect is very roundabout removal, especially on larger monsters. Only play if you really need a LIGHT continuously added to your hand.
The Light and Dark
Keurse will be your main send off of Nauya, and will also almost always revive Nauya with its effect. Keurse's negative, allowing your opponent to summon a monster out of the GY with it's effect negated, will almost never be bad for you just be careful against Yubel.
In fact Keurse's summon can benefit you, for example; it gives the opponent a monster for Loading... , allowing you to add on the First turn. It will also turn on cards like Loading... for a turn 1 search, and it can trigger cards like Loading... and Loading... .
Aleirtt's negative, unlike Keurse, will almost always be terrible for you, letting your opponent add back resources sucks, and wait till they add back a Veiler. Aleirtt's on summon effect is thankfully, also terrible, it'll only come up in the absolute most grindy games, and even then it's negative just isn't worth it. Do not play Aleirtt
The King and Queen
The first of the "Royals" Aron (In my opinion) is the best of the Ogdoadic bosses on his own, his effect to hand-rip will come up often and the follow up off his second effect is very nice. If your opponent activated Loading... Aron will rip a card on summon, being almost a "free" monster. If you playing few Royals, play this as your only tribute one. The trigger for the second effect is not as written (in English) on Master Duel (it is correct here) the OCG version of this card (and thus Masterduel's) triggers only off of card effect.
The Queen is of course good in combination with the King, with them being able to trigger each other's effects. The revive works in great combination with Loading... pretty much letting you summon any LIGHT/DARK Reptile of your choosing. Amunessia's interruptive effect just isn't as generally applicable as Aron's, often not mattering by the time you can trigger it, making Amunessia quite weak alone.
