Master Duel Meta Report: Singularity Warrior
Selection Pack: Singularity Warrior has made its mark on the Master Duel Meta, though less so than some might have hoped. With Vanquish Soul being a new arrival it was certain that the meta would be impacted in some way, as the deck has seen wide success in paper formats. Master Duel is, for the most part, no different. The deck has been seeing good representation though this is surely at least partially due to recency bias; players interested in the Master Duel meta would do well to see how the deck performs in the coming months.
Along with Vanquish Soul came a variety of new Cyberse support for players to ignore while performing the exact same line for what will soon be the fourth consecutive year, and more interestingly a new deck for players to cook with in the form of Nouvelles, an atypical Ritual deck that unfortunately is only viable at exposing the player's inability to pronounce foreign words.
Master Duel saw a Forbidden and Limited List towards the back end of November that ultimately did not significantly impact the meta, focused more so on the freeing of decks now thought to be acceptable in the current gamestate. Players should temper their expectations for the newly empowered Zoodiac and Dragon Rulers.
The most surprising thing about this format is how close all the top decks are. Something like this has not been seen in Master Duel for quite a long time.
Purrely
Purrely experienced a gigantic drop in representation this month, bringing it more in line with the rest of the format. While in the eyes of many Purrely is still unquestionably the best deck, and with the newly competitive Vanquish Soul not having a particularly advantageous matchup, it remains a mystery as to why the deck is proportionally much lower outside of general "players lost interest" theories. It is undeniable that the semi-limiting of Loading... and Loading... making it impossible to guarantee access to via Loading..., had an impoact on the power of the deck, though it is unexpected for it to be so impactful.

An atypical deck that requires maintaining hand advantage and has a main deck focus in terms of bosses, Vanquish Soul has shown itself as a very popular deck to play despite having a bit of a skill barrier for entry, making for very interesting and varying duels to watch. With a full suit of monster types to play with it is a no brainer to include Loading..., though surprisingly the majority of players tend not to play it at all.
With a tag mechanic similar yet far superior to that of Ultra Athletes, Vanquish Soul has an aptitude for dodging targeting effects such as that of most Kashtira cards and Loading... which must activate multiple times to ensure it returns a card to the deck.
The deck has natural synergy with what are already some of the most powerful cards in Master Duel; focusing on FIRE, EARTH, and DARK gives the player even more benefits when using staples like Loading..., Loading..., and Loading....
It is likely that Vanquish Soul's success is not just a flash in the pan, but it remains to be seen whether the deck will see an increase or decrease in representation in the next formats.
