Master Duel Meta Report: Climax of the Showdown
Climax of the Showdown was one of the most highly anticipated Master Duel packs to arrive, perhaps ever. While there was legacy support for those who enjoy HERO decks, the thing the majority of the playerbase were hotly awaiting was the introduction of Bystials, Chaos handtraps that would massively impact the game both in paper formats as well as the digital one. Alongside these monumentally powerful Dragons was the surprisingly generic and useful Loading..., a card that, alongside Loading..., would bring Spright decks from a solid meta contender to arguably the strongest deck of the format.
The Abyss storyline continues with plenty of support including Springans, Dogmatika, and Branded, providing the former two with a more modernized playstyle that lets them keep up with the current power level, though they still lack the ability to perform on a meta level.
Despia fans were pleased to get another 7 core UR's in their deck, but more than anything the transition of the deck from a fairly simple linear deck into a monstrosity with many different branches that can lead even experienced players astray has made the deck more responsive to individual skill expression. Unfortunately, despite the expansion of plays, the deck has not been faring much better than it did compared to prior to pack release. Readers are free to make of this what they will.
Tearlaments
Tearlaments remains the most represented deck, though the gap continues to close; while the deck is still definitely overtuned, no longer is it anywhere near appropriate to believe we are in a tier zero format.
Until measures such as the ones taken in paper formats are applied to Master Duel, it is unlikely Tearlaments will ever fall completely out of the meta. Despite what some may have falsely thought due to inexperience, Bystials are a boon to Tearlaments deck as much as they are a hindrance, so the latest pack is not strictly a weakening presence.

Spright gained a gigantic power boost with Climax of the Showdown, and it certainly shows with this level of representation. With a myriad of ways to play, untold levels of consistency despite recent hits, and a power level that has only continued to grow as a result of Loading... and Loading..., the deck is shaping up to be the definitive best deck if Tearlaments takes another hit this month, as many are expecting it to.
