Master Duel Meta Report: Galactic Evolution
Season 21 is over and Selection Pack: Galactic Evolution has run its course. Within it, as the name suggests, featured heavily the newest support for Galaxy and Photon decks, a fan favourite playable albeit uncompetitive deck from the ZEXAL anime that features the ability to go either first or second with a focus on boss monsters capable of reaching enormous ATK levels, as seems tradition for ZEXAL.
What people were really excited for however was the introduction of the much-beloved Purrely archetype. Featuring an adorable pet whom the player relives memories with, Purrely as many predicted swept the Master Duel metagame, immediately jumping to the top of representation.
In a comedic move against the Towers-Summoning Purrely strategy, Konami also released Mikanko in this pack, a combination of horrific-sounding terms to Yu-Go-Oh! players including, battle-focused, Ritual based, as well as going second. Despite these red flags however the deck is extremely competent, especially in Master Duel's Best of One format, though it also saw tournament success, albeit not enough to justify a mention in this article.
Purrely
While surely due in part to recency bias, Purrely is an exceptionally powerful deck that also has the ability to go second, generating immense amounts of card advantage and their primary boss monster, Loading..., is a Towers that also has multiple devastating disruptions. With Loading... imminently inbound it remains to be seen if Purrely is as proportionally dominant in the next season as it was in this one.

Dragon Link remains unchanged and as a result the strongest deck in the format excluding the new cards. With an enormous power ceiling, seemingly infinite extenders, and high levels of consistency, Dragons have seldom looked better than they have now.
