Apollousa was banned in the TCG after most players were calling for it. It's not because of her use as an end board piece, but rather that several decks could summon her early and then protect their entire main combo from all hand traps that weren't Imperm.

The TCG banlist mentality is very simple, banning the problem card without killing a deck completely. For exemple, Spright Elf was the problem so they banned elf and not every single card he could use effectively.\nMeanwhile, what did they do in MD and OCG ? Limit the **** out of Sprights, ban toad, ban merrli, hit the nimbles for some reason, hit the frogs even tho they don't have any boss monster to summon.

So no, compared to MD or the OCG, the TCG does not ban too easily, they ban what is problematic and not 50% of the cards just to keep around a card way too strong. (That is if they're happy with the money they made and can now ban the said cards)

that's just one very cherry picked example, ill just raise them hitting OSS after se wasn't even relevant anymore and leave it there. the tcg uses the banlist to force rotations to move product (in this case ryzeal and malice), and frankly it disgusts me because this is a game that should not have rotations. theres tons of heavyhanded hits like that when new decks release, so eh lets agree to disagree, also the tcg banned ariseheart, etc i really have 0 respect for it and i think if applied to the ocg or md, their approach would kill the game as its main selling point is no rotations. Also the tcg (and ocg i guess) banned kitkalos which is worse than banning merrli and would have killed the deck which is still surprisingly playeable. And elf isn't even a problem, its fully legal and i cant think of anything abusing it other than ib, which deserved banned.

And while sure, new decks and archetypes are stronger than old ones, im happy with the variety md has.

Same, I feel like MD banlist usually hits multiple cards to actually balance and power curve a Deck to be playable, but not ban worthy. And that MD uses the Semi-Limit list more frequency to off-set the power level of some Decks to drive down its consistency and grind game. The TCG follows most other card games format which turns me down due to the uniqueness of MD format.

In the OCG, Fiendsmith SE got mutiple cards hit to 1 which dose do alot imo, and makes cards like Pinguicula, White Binder, Bystials, Lullaby of Obedience, and Change of Heart stronger.

It's not cherry picked, almost every hit the OCG and MD makes when there is a really strong deck around are made in such a way it kills everything BUT the problem card, Tearlaments is basically unplayable as it's own deck, you have to makes a 60 card pile where Tear is an engine and not the deck, where in the TCG they banned Kit instead (which is and always was the problem) and the deck is perfectly playable as it's own or with 1/2 other tiny engines like FS or Horus, it's not really that strong right now but you can play Tear, and not 60 cards with 5 tear card in the main.\nWhat I do agree with is when and how they make the bans because, yes, it's obviously used in a way to promote new products and I agree that it is disgusting, which doesn't change that the hits are almost always better than in MD or OCG to take care of problematic cards, which is my point.\nAlso, elf is not a problem in MD exactly because of that, they hit every good use elf had and now it doesn't have much of a purpose other than giving Spright a better grind game. but elf being legal is what banned/limited Ib (and it should stay like that), Merrli, swap frog and, initially, almost every spright card along with beaver, they limited and banned any and every deck that had a strong lvl 2 just to keep elf around when it's him the problem card.

Not really what I'm getting at. More so that limiting or even semi-limiting cards can actually be useful for deciding on interaction points you can make against your opponent which I strongly do like that MD dose and OCG which they sometimes do. Also banning makes players angry a lot more often than limiting or semi-limiting them. And by players I mean the casuals, completive, and even the old school players.

With your example with Tear, sure but what if I just had a Bystial or D.D. Crow in hand or activated any GY disruption effect. Also, that Deck doses't really need to be run with Fiendsmtih, Horus, or any engines (Atleast how I'm playing it.) And isn't the same true for the TCG which your glazing. You can still run it as a pure Deck, tho you can gonna be using non-engine like Seamare, Mulcharmies, King of the Swamp which are healthy imo.

Against something like Yubel, with Spirit and/or Phantom to 1 (hypothetically). If Spirit is at 1, it makes GY banish or stealing effects end the entire loop or if Phantom's at 1, it makes the player choose if they wanna combo with it or have it as a endboard piece.

Yes, they hit the problem cards, that's exactly what I said ? Yes, sometimes it does kill decks because those problem cards were the only card that made the deck playable.\nThe only ones you mentioned I can agree with is Tenpai (but, to be fair, every format has hit Tenpai in the same way), Linkuriboh, maaaybe Sharvara, it could come back now and it wouldn't be a problem at all, never really was tbf, and Toads since now there is a new way to make toad for Spright and it doesn't make the deck good anyways, so Ronintoadin could perfectly come back now and it would be fine, but back when it was banned it really was a problem card, like substitoad is banned everywhere and I don't see you complaining about it here, yet it is a problem and what makes the archetype really somewhat playable.

For the rest, while there is cards that could come out now (like Drident) It was necessary evil, Ariseheart was a total mistake, Drident was too strong back then (now it's fine), curious is as much of a problem as Beatrice is, maybe she's not a problem now in MD but it will be at some point because she has a effect way too strong for a generic card, Spyral is an archetype that is stupidly strong, it was a tier 0 so it's completely deserved and Orcust, yeah, I have nothing to say about that, that one's not deserved, it was never way too strong compared to the rest of the meta.

Tenpai was only killed in the tcg, with kaimen to 1. Not even in Master duel, a best of one format, it got hit so hard.\nKashtiras are still all at 3 in the tcg, only missing Arise heart, a card only played in pure kashtira decks, which is a bad deck.\nSharvara was hit because it can make Caesar and negate Nibiru, and tcg loves Nibiru, because it filters rogue decks who cant play around it, to more expensive meta decks.\nNeither ocg nor Master duel took Elfs targets away. It was simply a way to force you to stop playing the frogs and buy a new engine.\nSubstitoad is not a part of any deck, and doesnt work with anything. Being banned or not changes zero things about the game, unlike Ronin.\nSpyral was broken, but its not anymore, and its still dead in the tcg.\nBoth Drident and Ariseheart should not have been hit in the first place. Hate them all you want, there were never "too strong." Both die to a single imperm.\nOcg and Master duel dont kill or ban anything "around" the problem. They just nerf it little by little until its not a problem anymore.\nTcg killed Superheavy samurai before the deck was even released. And even at full power, its still not a problem.\nNeither is Circular to deserve a ban.

The thing you fail to realize is, tcg only cares about money. Kashtira, Superheavy, Tenpai...all work great as engines, but are dead as decks.\nTcg doesnt want to kill engines, because they sell. But it loves killing decks, so they can sell the new and more expensive ones.\nAnd notice how Shifter, Droll, and Nibiru, are all format changing handtraps, and were all created by the tcg.\nThe tcg does literally everything it can to force you to buy the new decks, and you still defend this trash.

And what you fail to realise is that I'm not defending ****, almost everything you just said is "but they're fine now" yes, NOW, but when they were banned they were problems, runick spright wasn't even a thing that people played when most card that helped Spright were banned, before the bans Runick Spright was not the best way to play Spright.\nSubstitoad is part of an FTK, that's why it was banned, it DOES do something for the game and it's the best card frogs have, they can spam the board with substitoad, so that logic is flawed.\nAriseheart got banned at a time where Kashtira was the dominant deck because it was stronger than the rest. it could probably come back but nobody wants that because it simply is a toxic card, as is dimension shifter that everybody wants banned too.

You can argue all you want that now cards are fine, and they are, but what the **** does that have to do with anything ? that's not remotely close to what anybody was talking about.

And no, the OCG doesn't "nerf them little by little", they make them extremely RNG based, so busted decks can still be busted but now it's 100% RNG because it's not consistent, how is that any good ? it's as ****** as unbanning protos and colossus, which was a hates decision that the TCG made, not because it's busted card or anything, it's just that it adds RNG to the game for nothing.

Again, I'm not defending anything, if you can't read that's not my problem, I'm saying the decision are better in general because toxic cards that make the game unfun for people are generally banned, as are generic boss monsters now, which is a decision that most people loved because it makes the game more divers (and the engine that are used everywhere now making the game not divers if the fault of the OCG, not the TCG). The fact that they are making it for money and with not so good intentions was never even a question yet you jumped to saying I was defending them.

If a deck is overperforming, then Konami can either (A) lower its ceiling while maintaining its consistency, or (B) lower its consistency while maintaining its ceiling. The TCG tends to favor option A whereas the OCG and Master Duel tend to favor option B.

Although I don't agree with many of the TCG's hits, I prefer the TCG's general approach of maintaining a deck's consistency and lowering its ceiling.

MD's approach of maintaining a deck's high ceiling and lowering its consistency just makes the game feel bad for everyone. It means the other player needs to either "draw the out" (i.e. the hand trap that exploits the reduced consistency) or otherwise they're facing the exact same board anyway. And it puts the pilot in a position where their turn is disproportionately scuffed if their opponent has the right hand trap to exploit their deck's new choke point.

it really solves everybodys issues too, people can continue to play their pet decks without feeling they are neutered and be happy, and the consistency hits ensure that the deck is less oppressive because it will brick a lot more, solving the problem of the people who feel a deck is too dominant! win win win! this just reminded me of another nonsense ban in the tcg with circular! the tcg solution makes people who loved a given deck mad cause they can't play it at all anymore, and all it ultimately solves is forcing rotations and moving more product, so i guess its a win for konami but... it really does not feel good or sustainable to me!

furthermore, lucksacking is a traditional part of yugioh going all the way to the start! yugis deck was a pile of random garbage that required the pharaohs reality altering abilities to even work! piles with high ceiling and 0 consistency, nay, even logic, are the true duelists way!

Never said it's a going second card. I said that it's just a tool to help decks that can handle it with going second. Which else ht stops se-fs-azamina? None. Unless you open like 3 even 4 or if the opponent doesn't open a very good hand and yes I know that some decks can abuse it while not being affected at all by it, but still most decks do care about their GY.

Yeah, welcome to Master Duel, KONAMI doesn't ban/restrict cards that are available in Secret Packs, they've been doing this for over 3 years without fail.
I almost never see Tenpai anymore. I'm guessing it's too hard to break through the boards Fiendsmith facilitates?
I haven't seen it myself but with a new powerful meta deck and the encroaching DC I certainly wouldn't be surprised if people are breaking out Stun decks.

Doesn't matter if the FTK isn't doing anything it still exists just because I'm not actively being shot means I should be OK with a gun sitting out in the open? 2 bea isn't in any pack either is wave king why are they still in the game? 3 "I never see Tenpai anymore " I'm so happy for you but it is still everywhere I assure you. 4 It has nothing to do with the Meta decks stun always comes back because they don't ban stunt cards just limit them. The game is in its least fun and diverse format ever and the ban list does nothing about it.
