Notes & Combos

HEROs always win in the end!

This marks my first time ever reaching Diamond 1! This season was definitely tough, as decks nowadays have great monsters AND backrow. But, I fought Ishizu decks in D2 a few times and decided I had to get out of here before I couldn't anymore :P

Combos are as usual, going first we set up our floodgates to the best of our ability, doing a combination of DPE, Dark Law, Dark Angel, and Plasma. In a BO1 format, it can be hard to decide whether to go Dark Angel or Plasma, as they directly conflict with each other. The one tell I have, is that if the opponent uses some rare handtrap (not Ash or Maxx C), it's more likely to be a monster deck than a backrow deck, which is when I would go Plasma instead of Dark Angel, as it shuts them down more effectively.

Going second, we have to navigate through a field of landmines. Droplet still comes in handy vs decks like Spright, but even so we are still at the mercy of Runick, so we have to be smart about every move, considering which effects may or may not be negated by the opponent. One thing I wanted to mention about going second is I always want to have both Faris and Vyon in the hand. This is to make sure we are able to search our all-important Polymerization, letting Faris or Increase eat a negate. There's no better normal summon going second anyway.

One card I would consider cutting is Dangerous. It definitely has its uses, the main being a 1 card combo from Fusion Destiny to Liquid + Mist + Mask Change. But, in a BO1 format, I find going DPE a much safer option than betting on Mask Change alone.

Credit to Jaden BR on YouTube for this exact list (check him out!). The list I was climbing with up to Diamond 2 was also just 2 cards off, with Crossout and Mask Change instead of Increase and Foolish.
