Notes & Combos
As a huge SPYRAL stan, I wanted to participate in submitting once with 3 Quik-Fix. Took a while to settle on a list that worked enough. Tear with IF was too hard to beat, so I also waited until after that hit.
Satisfied with 50. 40 was too tight, and trying to stay at that meant cutting hand traps and important cards. Other SPYRAL lists go for 60 cards, but I found that was too much. Bloating the deck with extra hand traps and stuff like Chicken Game and Jack-in-the-Hand wasn't helping. 50 was a nice middle ground.
Decided to run a heavier hand trap count. Crow, Belle, and Meister put in work. When I tried 60, I also tried Veiler/Imperm. While using those to negate a Kitkallos is good in theory, SPYRAL can't really capitalize on it. It's way easier to win by preventing the Kit from being summoned.
Tear can play through hand traps often. I once opened 3 D.D. Crow going second and used all of them, and that still didn't stop it (although one was Orange Light'd). However, since Tear is a one card combo deck, stopping that one card (Reinoheart/Merrli/etc.) ended a Tear turn often enough.
What was really useful about Belle/Meister was using them to negate Mudora/Keldo. Because the shufflers are such strong cards, they conpletely shut out so much. For example, I used to run Dharc, but they made her dead so often I had to replace her. Negating the shufflers to keep Plan and Quik in grave is mission critical, since if the shufflers go unopposed, you have NO momentum.
Crow/Belle/Meister ARE completely dead going up against Exo/Floo/Stun. I just figured that regardless of what hand traps I ran, I was always auto-losing going second against those anyway. SPYRAL is all about going first, so that's how I'd win against those 3. Belle/Meister just acted as discard fodder for Quik.
I've seen some lists playing 3 Drone for Machine Dupe on it too. Strongly disagree. Drone at 3 contributed to many bricks, and Dupe on Drone isn't even good. I also really don't agree with playing 2 Big Red.
No Last Resort, it's the worst garnet ever. 2 Dupe was just right to prevent it from being bricky. I know TwoTone will tell you not to play Dupe and that you can't have fun with 3 Quik, but ignore him. Appointer off Curious/Gryphon worked perfectly with Drone for full knowledge of my opponent's cards. Just rip out a Robina/Martha/Planet and your opponent scoops.
It's a nice and simple build. No Tear splashing. No AFD or Power Tool nonsense. SPYRAL was not meant to Synchro Summon.
