Introduction

The secret to playing this event is not playing it. You already lost the moment you looked up this guide, IF you are looking at it.

Let's be honest. Why would you, given that everyone says this deck requires no braincells?

tnpy

Tenpai go second, Tenpai big attack, Tenpai immune during Main Phase 1, activate big breaker, enemy dead, life good.

Compared to normal ranked, Tenpai is significantly crippled by the bans of Maxx C, Shifter and Prosperity, the impossibility of using Spheres, SP, Due, and the Prom package, and Summon and Kaimen to 1.

Does this mean Tenpai is dead? No. Does this mean that it's the best deck, that the hits did nothing, and that the consistency is still insane? Eh

The event is a wasteland: with 50% of the good Extra Deck annihilated, nearly every deck is unplayable, the few that are playable are better than on ranked, and the decks that are almost at full power can get away with much less powerful boards.

Tenpai is the second best deck of the event, after Centur-Ion, with SPYRAL and Dinomorphia as better decks if only people played them, but it bricks a lot. It's basically Kashtira all over again.

You play Tenpai with the awareness of hating this game, but its players even more. So you're weaponizing your own frustration and make other feel like you do. Just like Kashtira. But without the banishing (outside of Magna)

Because they go second, have less searchers, die to stun, and have destruction as their main removal, they fear Centurion (due to being immune from the main way that Tenpai uses to remove cards), Dinomorphia (Iron Thunder isn't OPT and summon negaters ignore Summoning), Ancient Gear (Towers), Thunder Dragons (Colossus' anti search), and the deck's own bricks, transforming the gameplay in a "draw the out" contest, even more than before.

Still not as good as Centurion and not as monkeyflip as you may think (but I'm sure Reddit, Facebook and Twitter are reliable sources After all, even if there are better decks in the meta, the only thing that matters is doing what everyone is doing, even on the MDM server), so, in the end it's a choice between which of the two to use.

You're still going to face them both, as the matchmaking doesn't work when everything is Synchro.

SUMMON EVERY FIRE DRAGON IN THE MAIN PHASE UNLESS STD IS ALSO ON THE FIELD.

Now for the actual cards

List

Maxx, Shifter and Prosp - BANNED

Veiler - Veiler needs no explanation.

Ogre - Always useful, punishing both NS-centered decks and the mirror.

Ash - DEFINITELY doesn't need explanations

Dora - With one less Summon and 2 less Kaimen, Dora becomes mandatory at 3. Problem is that it only works with NS. Enjoy.

Fadra - More fragile than ever, and if they out it, you have 50% of your deck down because we rely more on Chundra. But so as long as it stays on, you have a reliable chance to still win, thanks to the stall effect

Genroku - Still a bad draw, still the best Summoning pitch target, and with a lock that prevents Zeta. Still a fantastic and needed extender or emergency starter. Ugly.

Paidra - Now it's even less useful than before but required at 3 due to the limitations. Can stall with Fadra but becomes worse each passing turn

Chundra - Chundra is the main monster of the deck, but also the most fragile, as it's the only Tuner. Insanely easy to kill the deck early on, Chundra and Bident will do everything after you have spammed breakers. If you have neither, you have automatically lost.

Santa Claws - Can you believe they forgot to ban him? He's the only Kaiju allowed. And you will need him. Because STD flips to attack and there is so much stuff that stuns, can't be destroyed or is a plan Towers-like

Magna - IT'S LEGAL! HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Nibiru - Maxx C is banned, meaning that combo decks are rampant. The Meteor will shine once more in this event

DH - Cheap removal etc etc

Raigeki/HFD/LStorm - Pray you draw these or Thrust every time you need them

Talent - Worth playing at 2 due to how we have less starters, but I play 1 because I have Thrust

Thrust - A pay to win card that will be massively appreciated with the nerfs to Tenpai. Kept at 2 because of deck size

Summon - Now at 1. Let's hope the plan works or that we can still play...

Cosmic - A staple against the Centurion matchup. 2 or 3 depending on deck size and how much your fear bricking

Called and Crossout - Without Shifter and with Kaimen and Summoning at one, you want these

Droplet - I only have 2, but 3 is ideal. Our main board breaker against too much stuff

Kaimen - Limited in this event. No explanation needed.

Imperm - Non OPT negation against going first. 3, but if you run Thrust, like I do, 2 is fine

Reboot - Anti-cheese card that's still as needed

Black Rose - The panic button of this event. If you summon this, situation is pretty dire. And you may still get negated

Exploder - A better Vagnawa which can serve as an emergency OTK enabler against anything that has low ATK.

Meteorburst - If you're good at this deck, or this game, don't do like me, summoning Kuibelt on a rush then risking battle handtrap RNG: SUMMON THIS

Zeta - Our new Spheres for going first, as those are banned. Summonable pretty much only in ATK due to the ugly DEF, thus vulnerable to LStorm. Genroku and Bident lock to Dragons. Please don't activate those first.

Samurai - Extremely more fringe due to the event format, but still decent enough to warrant a spot

Quantum - Double attack is good, and the bounce make it better than Gaia.

Squire - Budget option that can pop 2 in a single activation. Definitely an option exclusive for when Plan A fails

Narwhal - Can negate those cards that try to hit us in the "weak spot" during the Battle Phase, while STD isn't around

Gaia Blaze - Double attack gud

Kuibelt - Due to the decreased likelihood of summoning 2 level 7, it's more of a flex nuking/stall option, with Meteorburst

Biden - We're so reliant on this, it's absurd. And with the hits, it takes precedence over Kuibelt for the Summoning pop. You might even consider playing 3 but there are other good options for different purposes other than OTK.

TD - Is now an emergency OTK brute-forcer due to Prosperity being banned. And with Summon at 1, it might even backfire. Make sure Meteorburst/STD is also on the field

Ruddy Rose - An autowin in many decks played in this event but relatively hard to summon due to the reliance on everything else in the ED. However, it also banishes YOUR GY, which causes a lot of issues, meaning you have to think very well before proceeding for the summon. As for the nuke part, it doesn't exist.

STD - Is EVEN BETTER thanks to Santa Claws. Glory be.

Other non-included options Gamma, Accel Stardust and Baronne - Controversial engine that helps a lot and makes you brick a lot. Consumes 3 slots and the second copy after Driver has been banished is dead. I don't play, but you can

SarcBlaster - A mini package for when you have less starters. Expensive UR wise, leads to bricks, and is honestly not needed with Paidra at 3, but this event might make you consider it. Otherwise no.

Full Armor Master and Chengying - Copium options for when you're going first, as they have (very flawed) protection. Due to Genroku and Bident, and them not doing much else, I don't think they're worth, but Chengying is nice against Thundra...if they're letting you go first. Which uhh...

Vagnawa - Vagnawa sucks: summoning it with Tenpai makes the ATK go to 2400, and burn for 1200, with the DEF being a pathetic 1500, being a glorified vanilla, that isn't even FIRE for Summoning. Why aren't you playing Swordsoul at that point?

Every other UR card the deck could summon - Either I don't have them or they're just gimmicks. Maybe the best board going first would be Clear Wing/Zeta and Dawn Dragster, but I don't have them, so I can't comment on that. And besides, Tenpai wins with much less flashiness.
