Notes & Combos
Hey people. This is Charmers. For anyone new (which is most of you I bet coming from Spicy Decks), this is a blind 2nd OTK deck that aims to steal monsters from the opponent and kill them. (Either that or it's just blind 2nd snake-eyes but we don't talk about that).
You might notice the lack of actual charmer cards. This deck isn't named around the archetype, but rather the playstyle instead. Like 30% of the cards enable stealing. We also play the Link-2s because they permanently steal the cards.
It's basically 4 different engines in a trenchcoat:
- Altergeist
- Mikanko
- Adventurer
- Snake-Eyes
You can play Sky Striker too but I don't have the room. Also other charmer players are labbing out white forest (i'm just poor lol).
As for card choices:
- Altergeist Meluseek: pretty much the only relevant Normal Summon that can play under the Adventurer lock. Can be linked off for Anima, search Malwisp, Malwisp eff, revive Meluseek, make Arc Light for early omni negate. Good endboard piece. Also searches Ohime when sent to GY. Can be placed back in backrow with Flamberge and summoned on opp's turn if struggling to kill or going 1st.
- Magicians' Souls: Sends Diabellstar FOR COST. Crazy good, as it enables like 5 more copies of Diabellstar, which can be revived with Selene. Can be searched off of Preparation -> IoC -> Souls. Summons Anima for early removal. Draws 2 off of sending Adventurer engine spells / Mikanko spells.
- Snake-Eyes stuff: no explanation needed. I needed a strong skeleton that has OTK lines with only 1/1.5 cards in hand, whilst playing under Adventurer engine. Kills on empty fields with 9K damage. Also accessible with IoC/Souls. You canNOT NS Ash and search under Adventurer lock (you need to use Promethean).
- Mikanko stuff: Ash magnet. Nah JK Ohime is a good endboard piece, and there are situations where you can kill with Accesscode + Ohime. Also doesn't target or destroy. Generates 2 spells to send with Souls. Also Arabesque is a crazy good removal spell.
"Why no Maxx C?" Good question:
- I'm too good for it.
- It gets negated half the times anyways. I'd rather have a board breaker so I can punish my opponent with TTT/Thrust.
- Other handtraps like Imperm and Nib can be higher impact and much harder to punish.
