Notes & Combos
Wyverburster is Back, Baby! To celebrate, let's dive into a fusion of Dragon Link with Centur-ion—just for fun! After a series of adjustments during my climb to Master 1 and DLV Max, I’ve settled on this final deck list and strategy breakdown.
Key Adjustments and Insights Chaos Angel Over Baronne: I prefer Chaos Angel for handling problematic monster negates, such as Voiceless Voice. There's also a powerful board-breaking combo when you Synchro summon it with Druisworm + any Light level 4:
Triple Burst over Dillingerous Dragon: I tried using Dillingerous Dragon during my climb, but it often became a major choke point. Additionally, it consumed my follow-up turn by forcing the use of 2x Striker Dragon, which ultimately hurt my next plays. I found it better to cut this from the strategy.
Optimizing Wyverburster/Collapserpent: Sticking to a minimal Wyverburster/Collapserpent engine is smart to prevent bricking. I’d recommend keeping the ratio at 1:1 with Chaos Space for consistency. Searching for it is better than hard drawing it without a banishment material on the grave. This has significantly improved consistency.
Centur-ion’s Role in the Deck: The Centur-ion engine provides two additional layers of interruption, thanks to Phalanx and Cosmic Blazar. This extra disruption helps to fortify the board against various matchups.
Phalanx is particularly effective for removing Floodgate monsters (replay available).
Yubel Match-Up: Dragonlink is weak against yubel. This is where centur-ion package helps you. Against Yubel, it’s better to summon Red Supernova Dragon instead of Cosmic Blazar. Red Supernova can banish everything during the attack declaration, effectively wiping the board. I’m currently leaning towards this change, although I didn't encounter many Yubel match-ups during this climb.
Centur-ion Specific Notes: Emblem Oath’s Lock: Be aware that Emblem Oath locks you into Centur-ion monsters if you set a Centur-ion monster in the backrow and it stays on the field.
Stand-Up Field Spell: Always activate Stand-Up as your final play after dragon ravine and boot sector launch.
Final Thoughts: Misplays that I made with branded regain and beast that you must avoid
Branded Beast Dodging Infinite Impermanence (Imperm): To dodge Imperm, don't link off your Bystial monsters too early. Instead, chain Branded Beast by tributing whatever dragon monster they target. This is basic stuff, but it can slip through the cracks during intense duels.
Maximizing Branded Regain: Use Branded Regain wisely. Ideally, save it to recycle Wyverburster/Collapserpent for the most value. Be patient and don’t rush its activation, as keeping the loop going will fuel your mid-to-late game plays.
By applying these tweaks and strategies, I hope you find even more success with this hybrid Dragon Link and Centur-ion build. Keep an eye out for potential misplays, and learn from replays to continue refining your playstyle.
