Notes & Combos

The event banned several cards typically used in Cyberse/Code Talker strategies, such as:

  • Parallel eXceed
  • Mathmech Circular
  • Update Jammer
  • Splash Mage
  • Decode Talker Heatsoul
  • Link Spider
  • Link Disciple and Link Devotee
  • Talkback Lancer
  • Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax
  • Secure Gardna
  • I:P Masquerena

In addition, these were put to Limit-1:

  • Micro Coder
  • Lady Debug
  • Cynet Mining
  • Transcode Talker
  • Accesscode Talker
  • Cyberse Gadget
  • Salamangreat Gazelle and Spinny

Because the banlist generally hit so many cards that help search, extend or recover resources, I decided to just add as many monsters to fill similar purpose to get as many bodies on the field as possible regardless of the hand. Because games won't last past turn 1-2, it doesn't matter that they're all 1-ofs. You spend your searches into Link summons anyway. This also gives you more variety in searches for Cynet Codec, so no matter your hand, you can be flexible and use different monsters on a case by case.

The main focus of the deck is to go first and Extra Link the opponent. Any hand where you get Extra Link as the minimum pay-off for using Cynet Codec will at least end with co-linked Firewall Dragon. More powerful hands can search and summon Iblee to lock the opponent, and some can compromise with a Tri-Gate Wizard setup (though harder to set up with the Extra Deck nerfs).

Lady Debug, Micro Coder and Cynet Mining are your best friends. Since Mining is Limit-1, Cynet Backdoor can work as an alternative search for Micro Coder by banishing a different monster on the field with ATK higher than 300 (ex: SS Mathmech Sigma, Backdoor banish Sigma search Micro). With certain hands, even if you lose potential Link material with this banish, getting Micro to hand still gets you your combo.

Most games I just auto-won because my opponents scooped at the sight of Iblee (despite sitting there for the entire rest of the combo... lmao). Some made me go first (Utopia, HEROs) and they still surrendered as soon as they realized they can't exploit their kit anymore.

All in all I think the lack of hand traps (sans Veiler, Imperm, D.D. Crow) really helps the deck. Not having to worry about Ash, Maxx "C" or Nibiru means you will get the your end board most of the time if your hand is right for it.
