Notes & Combos
A more trap-heavy take on DM. I settled on maxxing out on Torrential Tribute and Solemn Judgement over more combo-oriented cards (such as Timaeus, The Eye of Timaeus, and Fusion Deployment) because I realized through testing that you're actually just better off ending on power traps instead of a board full of DM cards. Torrential is possibly the most impactful removal S/T in this event, and while Solemn isn't as strong as a stopper, it's still important because this deck is very weak to Duster. When I was trying a more combo-oriented version that couldn't fit 3 Solemn's in, my end board would still be very vunerble to Duster even if I had started with a good hand. The obvious trade off for playing less combo cards is that sometimes you won't be able to do more than just normal summoning a Rod and setting backrows, but that's actually completely fine for the power level of this event. You just play a grindy game where your DM engine slowly accumulates card advantage while the traps chip away at your opponent.
Some ratios and omissions:
3x Circle & 2x Salvation - You want to setup Circle, Eternal Soul with a DM in GY as soon as possible, so ideally you'd want to hard draw one of Circle/Salvation and search the other one with Rod. Salvation also gives you a free draw off Souls, and with the way this deck is built, you're very likely to draw into a card that either advances your setup or stops your opponent.
1x Secrets & 0x Timaeus - I want to play as few non-essential engine cards as possible. You can just search Secrets when you need it, and Timaeus just doesn't come up enough to warrant the times that you're gonna draw it.
Super Poly - It's very good in some matchups (DM, D/D) but not so much against others (Lyrilusc, Marincess, Salad, Speedroid) because of the lack of targets availble in the card pool
Uses for some of the ED monsters:
Artemis - Recyles Rod on your opponents turn
The Dark Magicians - If you have this (or a Souls that hasn't used its effect) and Circle, save the draw effect after you use Circle because it allows you to re-arrange the revealed cards. Also has good synergy with all your traps because if you draw into one of them you can set it and use it the same turn.
Master of Chaos - A common setup that you can use to push for damage is DM+Rod on the board with Secrets+Illusion in hand. Total damage is 2500+1600+2800+2500=9400
