Notes & Combos
Got a 9 win streak with whatever this is supposed to be. Unsure if that's a testament to quality of the deck or the (lack of) quality of the opponents, but pretty much all my matches - win or lose - were over 4 turns, so this must be that mythical "back and forth" thing Yugiboomers keep going on about. Can't say I'm a fan, but that probably(?) means it's in the spirit of the festival.
Mostly inspired by/stolen from DonaDona's Adachi CS winning Windwitch burn list. Since links are automatically removed from these descriptions, google "windwitch adachi" or the like if you want to see the original list. Also partly lifted from Quan Bot's May 2022 Diamond V Windwitch list, presumably also based on DonaDona's deck.
I'm not sure if the original list intended to go second or first, but the prevalence of Dark Magician's backrow-based removal that this deck is ill equipped to deal with made going first more appealing. Mostly just hope to draw the pieces to make Crystal Wing (i.e. Ice Bell, or Glass Bell + another name) and/or set some backrow, stall from there.
My preference for going first influenced the burn card I added compared to the other lists: Chain Energy. Secret Blast being banned is a big chunk of damage missing from the trap lineup (but also kind of nerfed by how awful slow some of the decks in this festival are). So I wanted something that could pick up the slack damage-wise and chain energy seems like it fits the bill after facing another burn deck. It has some anti-synergy with Diamond Bell since the damage is cost and not effect, and it's not as good going second if they're already played through their hand. But it being an added cost makes it a funny floodgate at low LP, which I think makes it feel right at home in a deck that unironically runs Magic Cylinder and Waking the Dragon.
Since Pot of Desires is banned, and the Windwitches don't usually use up the normal summon, I included a small Spellbook engine for a similar +1 to desires. The Windwitches also being spellcasters also mean that Spellbook of Knowledge isn't necessarily a dead draw, and was actually pretty handy one time I drew only Freeze Bell + Knowledge.
I barely used anything from the extra deck except the level 7+8 synchros and Linkuriboh. Feel free to skip. (Last Warrior/Ultimate Falcon/Hot Red Dragon are Waking the Dragon targets. Fortress Dragon is potentially free vs Cyber Dragons, and Linguriboh is for linking away a donated Iblee from a cyberse deck.)
