Notes & Combos

Last time we had this event I played a Wyrm Synchro pile; I had great fun coming up with a working build this time around with a bunch of new cards.

Originally this build had a higher Synchro focus with a Snake-Eyes package (Ash, Poplar + Original) and a Synchron package (Assault, Revolution, Jet + Tuning), but I found them a bit too awkward to consistently leverage, so I cut them down to just Assault Synchron and Diabellstar + WANTED and shifted to having more Xyz and Link options in the ED.

I briefly considered going over 40, but decided to go against it in the end: pushing over 40 or even going to 60 might be better overall, but this worked well enough for me.

Packages

Therion
  • Planet Pathfinder can search out Discolosseum and immediately serve as a target for Regulus, letting you insulate plays
  • Ain can equip Deer Note, occasionally getting you Deer Note's effect if you can get rid of it or Ain afterwards: this lets you extend in unexpected ways
  • Yul can equip the P.U.N.K. Tuners in a pinch
  • Borea can dump awkward cards in favour of more bodies or Cross, including Canopic Protector: that one in particular resets itself upon doing so, so it's basically free
  • Don't forget Discolosseum has three effects, so use all of them: I won a match purely by keeping up pressure through ramming my own monster into their Rulkallos and then protecting it by dumping Endless Engine Argyro System, ensuring follow-up pressure the next turns
P.U.N.K.
  • I felt adding the Field Spell and Wa Gon would've been too awkward due to a lack of P.U.N.K. names to leverage it, so I opted out of that
  • Level 7 and 8 bodies from Therion, P.U.N.K. and Horus make for flexible options with regards to Rank 8 plays and Level 10/11 Synchros
  • Dragon Drive adding Ghost Ogre gives some guaranteed interaction if worst comes to worst
  • Rising Carp feels somewhat unwieldy and I haven't summoned it so far: I'd probably take it out now
Danger!
  • They're just here for more bodies and more discards
Horus
  • Getting Horus cards live is purely a matter of finding Imsety/Sarcophagus
  • There's the potential revivals you can get off Canopic Protector, but you can't count on reliably getting value out of those
  • The monsters themselves also have effects potentially worth playing around, so don't forget that: even your opponent needs to respect those from time to time
