Notes & Combos
Made it to Master 1 this month with Fiendsmith Primite!
This is a deck where you use 2 engine's very good grind game with a bunch of non engine to win over the course of a long duel.
In terms of the deck list, it was net decked from Joshua Schmidt with the only difference being that I swapped out 1 Dominus Purge for 1 Fuwalos since I don't have a third Purge. However, even though Fuwalos is a potential turn skip I think the 3rd Purge is better value as it is usable after turn 1.
For gameplay you use the engines you draw, and Ether Beryl can bridge into Fiendsmith by using Primite Roar, though you give up Drillbeam unless you hard drew it. Fiendsmith has no way to bridge into Primite but that's fine because it is actually the engine you want to be using most. I mostly always started with Primite to bait hand traps and used Fiendsmith to close games out.
Summoned Skull is a level 6 fiend, and in some lines you end up with an Engraver/Lacrima on the field, so you can use Lordly Lode to summon Summoned Skull from the Deck and make Caesar. M7 and Lars are also very useful. White Duston is a Light Fiend monster which means Roar can summon it and act as a diet Fiendsmith Tract to start your plays, and Ether Beryl can send it to the GY as an extra Light Fiend for your fusions. ZEUS never came up for me but that's mostly because every time I thought it would be good my opponent had banished it from my Extra Deck with Kashtira Unicorn.
Necroquip is useful but most of the time you'll be using Ether Beryl as a second body instead of forcing a one card combo. It's actually come up often that I pass on something like Necroquip + Summoned Skull + Drill Beam + 1 or 2 hand traps, and I am able to use Necroquip's effect to draw 1 card if my hand trap sends itself to GY to activate and is a monster. This Necroquip effect also applies if your opponent handtraps you, so if you're hit by a Veiler or Ash Blossom while Necroquip is out you get a free card.
Overall this deck is really fun and I'll playing and testing with it to see if it can be made better. White Duston is the MVP!
