Notes & Combos
Notable Changes From Season 19
The main differences are the reintroduction of G Golem Crystal Heart and the addition of Lancea and Imperm. I view the slot for Almiraj and Crystal Heart as a flex spot. They are interchangeable options because it is rare for either card to come up.
I was confident in cutting Belle to 1 copy for three reasons:
- The best time to Bystial is when Superfactorial activates, but instead players on the ladder use their Bystial on Mathmech Sigma. This does not require Belle protection because they consumed their Bystial and you can punish with them with any extender.
- Because of this, Belle tends to protect Superfactorial from Called By. It also protects your handtraps so that they resolve so I thought Lancea would be similar replacement. Lancea has the upside of blanking Evenly Matched so that they waste thier battle phase, protects handtraps from Crossout, and prevents Kashtira from activating Riseheart's banish while being safe from Unicorn. Keep in mind that resolving Lancea before Conflict means you cannot activate Conflict for the rest of the turn.
- You can Small World for Belle at the end of the combo if needed.
Kashtira engine made a huge impact in the ladder, much bigger than Bystials which capped at 42% in the previous season. I encountered nearly 70% of players using Fenrir at minimum, while Bystial usage dropped to 30% with people running only Magnamhut and Druiswurm. People would shotgun Maxx C before main phase to respect Kashtira which played into Gamma. I respected Kashtira by playing Lancea and Imperm so that I rarely got hit by Unicorn's extra deck rip. Even if I got hit by Unicorn, Final Sigma was a contingency.
Matchup Breakdown (105 Duels; 55 Heads, 50 Tails)
- 22 Tearlament (21.0%, W/R = 68%)
- 11 Spright (10.5%, W/R = 55%)
- 10 Labrynth (9.5%, W/R = 70%)
- 9 Kashtira (8.6%, W/R = 78%)
- Runner-Ups: 5 Admancipator & Dragon Link & P.U.N.K., 4 Stun & Traptrix
Branded Bystial & Dragon Link saw very little representation in this ladder climb, while Tear maintained its position with 20% of the pie. I'm still impressed by this deck's performance. My winrate going 1st was 76.4%, while going 2nd was an unbelievable 56%.
