Notes & Combos
This climb was tough but the deck is a lot of fun to play. Started with a pure Chimera build, but later changed to this build using the Yubel engine.
The standard 1 card Chimera combo goes like this:
- Summon Mirror Swordknight (searchable with Cornfield Coatl), activate its effect to summon Big-Winged Berfomet from deck.
- Use Big-Winged Berfomet effect to search Chimera Fusion and Gazelle the King of Mythical Claws.
- Fusion Summon into Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts using Berfomet and Gazelle. With Berfomet effect you can summon back Mirror Swordknight, and Gazelle can you can get follow-up (Coatl or another Swordknight).
- Activate Chimera Fusion effect in GY to get it back to hand, and set it.
- During your opponent's turn, you can use Mirror Swordknight to summon another Big-Winged Berfomet if you need more follow-up (watch out for Called By or Ash Blossom though). You can also use Chimera Fusion whenever you want to summon a Guardian Chimera or some other Fusion monster.
With Frightfur Patchwork + Gazelle (or Coatl to search it), you can go for a different combo, usually more safe against handtraps:
- Activate the Frightfur Patchwork to search Polymerization and Edge Imp Chain.
- Use Polymerization to fuse into Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts using Edge Imp Chain and Gazelle.
- With Gazelle's effect, get Cornfield Coatl to search for Mirror Swordknight (or go directly for Swordknight instead if you already used Coatl to search Gazelle).
- Summon Mirror Swordknight and do a combo similar to the 1 card combo previously explained, but fusion summon the Berfomet the Mythical King of Phantom Beasts instead (possibly using Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts and Big-Winged Berfomet as materials). With its effect, you can either put another negate in the GY for future turns, or send Nightmare Magician to help OTK the next turn.
If you open with Nightmare Throne, you can use it to destroy Spirit of Yubel and use its effect to summon Yubel. From this point, you can go directly for Phantom of Yubel to protect the rest of your combos, or use Yubel as fusion material first if you don't feel threatened by handtraps. If you draw one of the garnets and no field spell, remember that the Berfomet fusion can send a Yubel monster to the GY, so you can also access Phantom of Yubel that way.

You can see both this deck and my previous (pure) build in action in this video. Some of those duels were amazing!
