Notes & Combos
Back from playing Yubel last season and Runick Spright is still most definitely my favorite deck on MD.
The climb this season was fairly easy with the only exception being my rank up matches to M1 that kept getting negated by Solemn Judgement. Lost the coin toss and the opponent opened up cracked more times than I could count.
For more of an in-depth guide on how this deck plays, my previous lists here go into detail for anyone interested.
Changes:
- Replaced Number 29: Mannequin Cat with a second S:P Little Knight.
- Didn't use Mannequin Cat a single duel in the climb because it really isn't necessary. You will 99.9% of the time have a good enough hand to combo into a pretty decent board and your resources to make Mannequin Cat are better off used elsewhere.
- I tested keeping Mannequin Cat in and removing Geri instead, but there were duels that Geri would/did come in really useful for.
- This XYZ is very useful for Spright, but it's just not something that was useful for me.
Overall Thoughts:
-
Although you can't run too many hand traps in Runick Spright, the ones I currently run is what I think is best for this meta. You have 7 ways to stop Maxx C while other hand traps don't kill your turn as badly. Gamma is the best non-Ash/Maxx C handtrap you can use.
-
Going first, this deck is still an absolute force and it will beat most decks. The deck is uber consistent and the deck has an answer to whatever your opponent may throw at it turn 1/2.
-
Going second, this is the reason why the deck isn't played more. While still being able to break boards, you only have so many cards in your hand by the time it's your turn 2. The board breaking potential is still really good with the Runick cards; however, none of the cards besides Hugin have any floating effects. FKSE and Yubel also have effects if destroyed by card effects which limits your plays even more.
- My advice is to use your handtraps effectively to cause the biggest impact. A well-timed Gamma will end the turns of many meta decks. Be smart with how you use your Runick cards to bait your opponent to waste their disruptions.
-
The deck is still a blast to play regardless and I hope Konami will unhit more Spright/Runick cards.
