Notes & Combos
- Originally I wasn't planning to push for Master 1 with this Chimera 60c Variant. Mainly because I didn't want to spend too much effort tinkering when I know I will immediately drop the Melodious Engine (or any other supplementary engine) for Fiendsmith whenever Konami decides to drop it. It so happen during recording gameplay footage with this deck I noticed I got much closer to Master Rank 1 compared to the Chimera 60c Variant I used in Season 35 (November 2024), so with a little bit more effort than I planned I made it to Master Rank 1.
- Fundamentally, The Melodious Engine helps with the consistency issue for the 60 card variant as your starter count goes from 9 (Cornfield/Swordknight/Apprentice) to 12 (Ostinato increases it). So using the Online Yu-Gi-Probability Calculator, you go from 56%~ chance without Melodious to 68%~ chance with Melodious in having some kind of "starter" in the 60 card variant. For quick reference: 9 starters (Cornfield/Swordknight/Apprentice) in a 40 card Variant gives you a 74%~ chance to open a starter, so the gap difference is getting smaller between 60c vs 40c variant with each passing stronger engine.
- Nevertheless when running so many different engines, when you brick, you brick HARD. The Melodious engine being FAIRY type and they don't really work individually on their own outside of Ostinato are major downsides that can't be overlooked.
- Yet, even with all of the downsides, a fully setup endboard powered by the melodious engine is tough to break.
Replays
- I play tested different tech cards along the way till I settled on list that is shown. So sometimes you will see cards in the video not on the list in the duels, but the core of the deck remains the same. Duels were marked if it had some unique gameplay to it: Beatrice Bridge, Melodious Engine being used, ideal endboard, etc.
