Notes & Combos

While in Masters, I didn't derank at all.. however, it still took 131 games to get to M1.. It took 6 promotion games in M2 to have luck turn my way and get me into M1 on the second to last day of the season. My winrate for all 257 of my games was a little higher than 54%, so I'm not sure if luck just wasn't with me this season, if this meta is just that bad, or something else.

Overall, this season felt horrible to me. Sometimes I ran into swarms of Tenpai in a row before not seeing them for 5+ games, so it was hard to judge what you wanted to set up while going first.

It didn't help that once I got into M2, I started to see Ritual Beast/Tear/Fire King Snake-Eye decks more frequently compared to before and my current deck isn't really suited to face them, as it was more set on going against Tenpai.

Throughout the climb, I did try changing things up from my D5 -> M5 build. At first, I cut Maxx C, added in Anti-Spell, and tried to more closely resemble Nico-_-Nii's M1 list. While doing so, I kept going second and couldn't break through any boards, so I ended up putting 2 Maxx C back in while removing the Anti-Spells, as they weren't really helping when I saw them.

Eventually, I ended up cutting Ogre for Veiler (even against VV, they kept starting with Pre-Prep + Saffira + Nadir, so Ogre wasn't really do much overall for me), adding in a 3rd Maxx C again, and along the way, removing a Dio for a 3rd Arach. Out of those changes, the Veiler change was whatever, while the 3rd Arach addition was nice. I didn't super miss a second Dio most of the time given that the change gave me a higher chance of having more than just Sera, set some cards, and passing if my normal summon was negated. I'd at least have some extra insurance against backrow wipes and another hole in rotation.

Deck wise, I'm not sure what I'd want to change to make things go smoother in the future while keeping it trap heavy without other engines in the deck (not even sure if adding other engines would make it better or not).
