Notes & Combos

I was struggling to find a decent deck to play in this chaotic meta: on one hand, you need handtraps to respect ftk; on the other, your deck needs substance and ceiling to survive tenpai otk. There are many such decks in the current meta, but i dont prefer the playstyle of these decks too much, and they're too coin toss reliant, or even rng based. I cooked with pure Kash and realised the consistency just wasn't there. I tried zoodiac and realised the power and raw grit a normal engine would have wasn't there. So i tried merging these decks to find a common ground — and boom, armored xyz engine. Deck is good on either side of the flip, good at wiping boards thanks to zoo, and good at grind thanks to kash. Plus, no one expects ariseheart, and its protected, so they scoop.

So how the deck works is: Zoodiac is normal summon based engine, with special summon via barrage available. Kashtira is a special summon based engine. While these engines have no direct conflict, both being xyz, there wasn't much apparent synergy before, which lead to the strategy declining. However, and i may not be the first, but I haven't seen this replicated and came up with it organically as i was brainstorming, but any zoodiac+ shangri ira is quick effect ariseheart on opponents turn. Now, that means if your kashtira line gets interrupted you still magically put up ariseheart that your opponent can't out. The only realistic out is mourner drawn for turn, because no way they're holding it during your combo. Obviously they can use a combination of cards, but your endboard is varied enough to survive any single blowout.

I'll focus in on small world, which has been shunned as a poor inefficient tech outside of mathmech. however, over here, its extra copies of unicorn, of zoodiac, or any HT, even a pank which comes up sometimes to take care of backrow or bait important disruption. With the way the deck is, briding is very efficient, and most cards get you to unicorn or even fenrir. however, there is trouble finding rat specifically, which I'll need to work out, due to jts 0 0 stat. It may be an immediate -1, but you plus considerably, and if you get handtrapped, you eat through them. Then you have your own handtraps to hold off the opponent to simplify the gamestate, at which point you can unicorn for birth theosis again, or make f0, then its over.

Scareclaw is must, due to the lack of names you dont want to run out of targets. but it can also put in work vs tenpai.

Now I haven't yet put up replays from the last few hours of climbing, as I'm going to rest a bit. however there is one duel vs SE FK where i take the maxx c challenge, they remove the ariseheart, but i still manage to win.

You can watch that one rn, or wait till tomorrow for more.

p.s. ran out of space, but every card in extra deck came up. I'd play typhon as my 16th and hammerkong as my 17th.
