Notes & Combos
If you like drawing cards and playing a hyper consistent deck, this is for you!
You can adjust this list for the new banlist by substituting the third Jet with a third Ipiria.
I knew I wanted to play a runick spright variant this season, I just needed to figure out which version and I do think that this is the best one rn because it is Bystial proof and plays well into tear, two things that live twin and fur hire struggle against. The live twin version just looses against one bystial, since they can just walk over your Gryphon and turn off the floodgate you put so much investment into. Plus live twins lack tools against tear.
This deck however solves all these issues! Your typical endboard is Elf, I:P, catti and carrot backed up by a fountain with some runick spells and (usually) protected by Avramax. Some high roll hands can add a djinn buster or red to the mix. Plus this deck can play through 2 to 3 handtraps that arent Maxx C or shifter with an average hand. And if you end your turn with a fountain and no spells in hand worry not! You can draw into them with ipiria or capshell on your opponents turn.
I really wish the good runick spells are at three since the one thing this deck struggles with is going second. I got to Master 2 without maxx c and three more runick spells in it's place, but I hit a roadblock trying to get to 1. I tried board breakers like lava golem, ttt and evenly but none of them worked. TTT was the best one since it's the most versatile one, but I never saw evenly going second or if I did it just got negated by cryme or carrot. So I budged and played maxx c.
I also wish I had more room for a third Ipiria since it's sooo good to open with but I prioritized runick cards over it and the melffies do take up some space too. You could take out the kitten but it fills a nieche that this deck struggles with and that's spot removal. Since you give up your bp you need a way to get monsters off the field and Onibimaru fills that role only kinda since the monsters return. Plus kitten is a soft opt so you can bounce, link it away, bring it back with elf and bounce again which is objectively funny.
Speaking of which, Elf makes this deck tick and if I had the third copy I'd consider playing it since I missed it the most, even more than a third Hugin, which would've been nice a few times. If you have it you can take out Djinn buster since you don't have materials for him in your usual combo cause you're going for the melffies
