Notes & Combos
It took a while, but I finally reached Master I! The deck list is identical to the list I used to reach Master V. If you want to see my initial thoughts on the deck from when I reached Master V, you can check them out in the link below: https://www.masterduelmeta.com/top-decks/master-v/june-2023/tearlaments/sweep/rUvBU
So now that I've reached Master I and experienced more of what the new format has to offer, I have some additional things I'd like to say.
Firstly, I still think Ishizu Tear is the best deck. While they're not Tier 0 anymore, I feel that Ishizu Tear has one key thing that puts it above decks like Branded Despia and Spright. That of course is the ability to play on your opponent's turn. We all know this by now, but being able to chain Havnis into potentially Kelbek/Agido and then go full combo is still just so strong. Sure, Spright can play through 2+ hand traps, and Branded has a ton of new combo lines, but can they chain Havnis?
Secondly, Rank 4's are a lot harder to make this time around. Since the deck lost copies of the shufflers, you need both a good hand and lucky mills if you want to get something like a Dweller on your endboard. They're still absolutely worth including in the deck, but don't expect to see them every game.
Thirdly, Spright Sprind is actually the best card in the Extra Deck. The utility of this card in Tear cannot be understated. It's really easy to make and often is the difference between passing and doing full combo. Make sure to save your Merrli triggers for last.
Lastly, Super Poly is just insane with Garura around. I said this before in my Master V post, but it really does decide entire games by itself. The amount of duels against Spright that I've stolen just by drawing Super Poly is more than I can count. Run this card at 3x copies, you will not regret it.
So yeah, it's not a Tier 0 meta anymore, Bystials are running around everywhere, and Spright is giving Ishizu Tear a run for its money, but this deck is still the top dog.
