I know the deck is expensive, but just try the Volcanic core and see if you like it. Even Pure is playable, just ask in the Volcanic room on Discord.
I may try Volcanic Fire King next month. Currently, ~the same list as https://www.masterduelmeta.com/top-decks/wcs-2024-qualifiers-dlv.-max/june-2024/volcanic/rhydonphilip/QF4SR , except I dropped the 3 additional handtraps, as mentioned in its notes. Their not worth vs Maxx "C". I played through Maxx "C" in 7/10 last games, still coming on top with a 5 win streak despite it. Maxx "C" makes each duel miserable to play.
Yes, this is 57 cards Grass. I resolve it as an extender, not as a focus point of the deck. To me, this deck list is fully optimized.
I am thinking of making a Guide for Volcanics, as I do notice a few new duelists are interested in Volcanics... but the SR/UR costs are holding them from even trying. The deck rarely has brain dead lines or <2 turn wins as often your FTK is interrupted early => adjust on the fly to a control board.
It has worthwhile traits that change otherwise annoying decks into a preferable match up, like Runic, Mikanko, and Labrynth. Stun is still Stun though :^(

I could add a go-second one, but it's all just gass + whatever you can throw at your opponent, burn and then beatstick. Just cycle VBA with Rimfire and summon Emperor as absolute last thing you will do that turn, unless you need it for beefy attacking.
