Notes & Combos
Final push from M5-M1 done in about 14hrs from 3/29/25 to 3/30/25, last 20 games were 10-10
M5-4 done with strikers, M3-2 pure handtraps, M2-1 done with strikers
TLDR
- Be aware, this list is designed to go 2nd only, it has basically 0 plays if you lose the coin flip against a sky striker or tenpai, tenpai is still popular but isnt worth putting cards like SEALS that you will use like 3 times during the whole run
- This variant has a good matchup against the most popular engines/decks from the format
- People are still playing pseudo FTKs (reasoning/grass piles, kali yuga, beatrice/rollback floodgates, virus, actual unbreakable U-link boards), and this list has no outs for lingering turn/summon skips
- this list is the best to deal with snake-eyes fiendsmith or floodgates, but not recommendable against white forest that much, play handtraps instead
-
i tried 2 different versions of blind strikers, with a different engine to deal with floodgates and mulcharmies but tenpai is still the most efficient way to deal with the rest of the meta
-
also tried the 2 different versions of tenpai and its clear why the handtrap version is better for tournaments, handtraps are better at stopping any type of unbreakable board (aka the top meta), and dont auto-lose the mirror, something that hold me back in M3 for 8 hours with strikers, then i was having the opposite problem trying to escape M2 for 5 hours
-
sky has a better matchup against most stun-like decks, ultimate slayer is the MVP trade card, its always a +1 no matter what you target thanks to tri-brigade > garura, n'tss, mereologic or malong, its rarely a dead card, you always want to see at least 1 copy for the hardest match ups
-
i removed the shark cannon and afterburners for a while, but there were times when i needed them more than the 3rd anchor, removed extra copies of dragions because kash unicorn "banished" from my games at least
-
super poly and lava golem/sphere dont do enough, the only one affordable with an extra cost is droplet
-
nothing worth to mention outside the extra deck being reduced only to your main 2 tenpai dragons at best, if you need to activate rose dragon that means you are in a really bad position already, most of the non-ultimate slayer tech literally came once each (crashing hiita for a genroku search) except typhon, this season carried 0 games, boards are too wide and you wont survive 1 whole turn because top decks have infinite gy gas every turn
