Notes & Combos

This is an anti-meta Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck that reached Master Tier 1 before the midpoint of the month. Unlike most other Blue-Eyes decks, I ran Ally of Justice Cycle Reader specifically to counter Fiendsmith engines and other Blue-Eyes decks. D.D. Crow also came in handy many times against a bunch of meta decks and engines, including Snake-Eyes, Fiendsmith, Centur-Ion, and Tenpai. I switched out Dominus Purge because it locked out too many cards if used early. Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion is also a good surprise hand trap that most opponents do not expect.

For the Extra Deck, Black Rose Moonlight Dragon came in handy a couple times, and a well-timed Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier summon through Crimson Dragon to banish up to 3 cards has won tough games. If it seems likely that the opponent is waiting to use Nibiru, the Primal Being, opt for Baronne de Fleur and potentially Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres instead of two to three copies of Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon.

Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon is another card that has helped win multiple games. At times, even players in Master Tier 1 or Rating Duels forget that Blue-Eyes Jet Dagon protects the player's other cards from being destroyed while it is face-up on the field. And contrary to most Blue-Eyes deck builds, I do not see the point of running more than one copy of Wishes for Eyes of Blue. One is good to enable Blue-Eyes protection through Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon and for Special Summoning Blue-Eyes Tyrant Dragon, but any more than that just bricks for me. And players in Master Rank 1 and Rating Duels tend to save Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring for Wishes for Eyes of Blue if they see a Blue-Eyes deck anyway, so you lose card advantage if it's negated due to the discard cost. It's better to bait the opponent to wait for a chance to negate Wishes for Eyes of Blue instead of running multiple copies of it.

Synchro Rumble has on occasion been switched out for a second copy of Primite Drillbeam or Bystial Magnamhut. I find that Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon is generally a better target for Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres than Bystial Magnamhut though, and thus I switched it out. I also occasionally switched out a third copy of Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon for S:P Little Knight but found that the former has much better synergy and utility for this deck.
