Notes & Combos

Running an FK heavy build is only logical if you're playing ulcanix, if you see handtraps instead of FIRE monsters she will brick you.

This list very consistently plays through handtrap spam(relevant in tenpai format) and has very strong setup under maxx c while only giving 1 or 0 draws

3 Garunix:

With this many FK cards garunix becomes very easy to trigger when hard drawn, infact, I would even say that garunix is a good draw in this list.

He acts as a handtrap, extender and also sets up a great play under Maxx c. searching a skyburn or a kirin while having garunix in hand has won me an insane amount of games under Maxx c.

2 Skyburn:

Skyburn is also another part of the setup that lets you win under maxx c, drawing 1 part of the setup then searching the other becomes very easy with these ratios

Also, since I am on 3 ponix and 3 ulcanix, skyburn becomes an anti imperm card(you can skyburn pop your monster and their imperm) on 6 of my normal summons, just insane value.

2 Arvata:

Honestly didn't matter that much, the initial idea was to make up for the lost grind game from the kirin hit but that ended up being irrelevant. However, he is still a great fire target to draw into to use as fodder for the fire king engine.

1 Bonfire: I have one because I don't have the dust to get another, but I honestly think 1 bonfire might just be better with the SE nerfs, never felt the need for another and the deck has been running very smoothly.

Subversion: You will be finding yourself passing on fucho very frequently into tenpai, searching subversion off poplar for followup turn 3 to deal with seals/baronne or whatever tenpai puts up has been very valuable.

Going second:

The FK engine has many built in ways to interact with an established board, making it so that the experience isn't so miserable with ash blossom as my only handtrap.

But I won't lie to you and say you're going to be having a good time going second, it's still pretty cringe to play into an established board.

However, I think that with the amount of tenpai you'll be running into ATM this should be the higher winrate strategy. Since its so good at playing through handtraps it will stomp any game going first tenpai or not and have a great winrate into maxx c.

Also, it's insanely fun and satisfying to play with this much engine, wins actually feel good when you're not sacking people with 2 imperms and an ash or a maxx c.

Finally, I didn't miss maxx c at all this format.
