Notes & Combos

Kashtira is finally here and it is by far the best Deck. Everyone is running as many outs as possible to it so it does look weaker than it actually is, unfortunately. It was also hit on release, so it is only a pale mere shadow of the beast it was in the TCG.

I tried countless different routes while building the Deck taking into consideration the vast myriad of factors present in this format, such as the multiple outs people are running, as well as the fact that mirrors are extremely common, and this Decklist worked the best for me.

  • The best endboard possible by a long shot is 2 Arise-Heart, especially running 3 Lance and 3 Book. 1 Unicorn + an extender is always 2 Arise. If your opponent doesn't instantly surrender, they will the moment you flip a Lance.
  • Only 1 Talents and 1 Thrust because as good as they are, they still are very bricky going first (yes, even Thrust).
  • The Kashtira line-up is as optimal as possible. Please don't run abominations such as Ogre, Prep or Tear Kash; they all suck.
  • Herald of the Abyss is mainly here to deal with Noir, as going 2nd it is a bit of an FTK unless you draw Imperm or Book. However, Abyss is still an excellent going 2nd card overall; it's good against almost any Deck. It's also really useful against Mikanko as it gets rid of Hu-Li. Even though it's completely dead going 1st, it is unfortunately needed because of Noir.
  • Book is one of the strongest cards ever printed, and this format is perfect for it, especially with so much Kash around. Should definitely be a 3 of in almost any Deck.
  • Virus was MVP. If you full combo and proceed to Virus your opponent in DP tributing Big Eye, while leaving an Arise-Heart on board, odds are your opponent will pretty much always instantly surrender. It's also a consistent option thanks to Thrust.
  • Lance is not the best card, yet unfortunately I do think it is needed due to how many outs people are running. Most notable ones include Talents (fetchable off Thrust), Books and Imperm, yet people are also running desperate stuff such as Dark Hole or Raigeki.
  • I tried Nib and in Theory it should be good considering how prevalent Kash is. However, for me it was dead most of the time. It bricks against lots of popular Decks right now, such as Purrely or Labrynth. You can run 1 copy if you want for Maxx C and Crossout, but personally I prefered to cut it out.
  • Crossout is a must in Kash. Really good in mirror and stops Maxx C. That's more than enough to win its spot.
