Notes & Combos

I played Ikea up to M4 and then switched to the trap heavy variant. This floodgate-intensive approach was significantly more reliable, although you encounter greater challenges in connection with "Red Reboot" and "Feather Duster".

In the vast majority of cases, I didn't have to or couldn't make use of the Extra Deck, apart from N'rss and Garura.

Huge thanks to SynyGates, who convinced me of this variant!

Lord Inclusion:

Lord is an underutilized gem in trap decks. It's a powerful counter to traditional issues of trap decks, provides a substantial 3k body upon summon, and searches any spell or trap.

Iron Wall Utilization:

Iron Wall is a game-changer in the current meta. It significantly hinders Kash and any deck relying on banishing. The key is to safeguard it effectively. When combined with Lord, it can be set directly via Lord's effect or any other floodgate, making Lord + Iron Wall a searchable floodgate combo. Additionally, it provides a robust defense against Evenly.

Going Second Strategies:

Contrary to common perceptions, trap decks can flourish when going second, especially with cards like Sphere Mode, Solemn Strike, Skill Drain, and Gozen. The notion of setting five and passing is viable with these cards in play. Sphere Mode humorously tributes an overworked opponent's board, while Strike ensures your traps remain un-negated and handles problematic cards, aiding in board breaks with cards like Torrential. Skill Drain further prevents trap negation with minimal impact on Lab. Gozen dismantles a Kash board and impedes their recovery. And with Iron Wall, these floodgates can be set off Lord.

6 Pots:

Despite some conflicts with the deck, the pots are indispensable for increasing the odds of drawing power cards. They serve their purpose well, especially when drawing into Sphere Mode when going second or a floodgate or Lord when going first. The downside is the potential of drawing an Extrav or Prosperity post Iron Wall usage, but Stovie serves as a suitable discard outlet.
