Notes & Combos
Currently playing a very basic version of traptrix outside of a few changes that I made to boost a little bit of the deck's consistency.
First and most obvious thing about the deck is the lack of maxx "C", but I've just been very unlucky with it being negated almost always whenever I run it so I just decided to stop using it, not to mention that traptrix is one of those decks that doesn't really benefit that much from having maxx "C" anyway since we don't really pop off hard from having a lot of cards in our hand compared to other decks, although I still think it's an amazing card (obviously) and if you wish you could run it and it would probably be an overall benefit for the deck.
Second thing is running 2 pudicas/2 field spells over the usual 3-1 ratio. That's mostly preference since imo both ratios are fine, but I've had many issues like pudica getting ashed while having 2+ trixes in hand, which is unfortunately something that happens surprisingly often with the deck, so having the chance to open the field spell more often felt good in my experience, even though the field spell by itself doesn't generate any advantage.
Third and last thing is running Brigandine over Exceed. People have already been doing this in the tcg with traptrix and it really feels like Brigandine is just a straight up better card overall, even though it doesn't net you the same endboards that Exceed would. Brigandine is much less bricky, plays around maxx "C" and imperm much better and it doesn't feel bad to open multiples of it compared to Exceed since it could be used either as discard fodder for holeutea or for possible disruption by using it during your opponent's turn by summoning myrm/pudica through sera's effect. It still has the same drawbacks that it had back when we used to run it before the new support, such as being a small brick if you used imperm/evenly before it, but imo the drawbacks are small enough that I'd still recommend using Brigandine in the current meta.
All in all the deck still feels really good to play, and the only card that I felt a little dissatisfied with was Terrifying. In retrospect I probably should've changed it for a vesiculo, but having that quick effect pop + banish any monster in grave for rafflesia never felt bad. Happy to be back to playing master duel and getting the top rank again after so long.
