Notes & Combos
The only thing I would change about this list is if I had more UR, I would add a Ghost Ogre or 2. I'm quite happy with the extra deck, as every card came up multiple times. Sometimes if you get hand trapped enough, the only thing you end on is Terahertz, in which case the Mereolegic and Packbit are super important. Mereolegic isn't crazy in every meta, but specifically now it's really good for negating Sangen Summoning.
At the beginning of the season, I thought I was going to have a lot of fun queueing the ever-funny Paleo into Tenpai. And I often did! The only problem was that I was not enjoying insta-losing some games from getting Shiftered, Rebooted, or Dustered. To solve some of the issues with getting Rebooted and Dustered, I switched to the Runick Paleo list Joshua Schmidt played on stream. It definitely worked better, but the problem was how many suboptimal hands would lose to Hugin getting interrupted, or to the super mill spell getting Ashed. I think I'm also just not the best at playing those decks. So I checked MDM to see how people were beating Tenpai, and Mathmech caught my eye. Turns out Terhertz's battle floodgate works pretty well against a Battle Phase focued deck! Plus, the deck only really cares about exactly 3 hand traps: Shifter, Maxx "C", and Nibiru. Nibiru, being bad into a lot of the rest of the meta, is not very played right now. As for Maxx "C", you can just load up on the answers, and if it resolves against you, hope your own hand traps can keep you safe. Shifter cooks you unless you have Called By, so for that one you kind of have to pray. Anyway, wow do I hate Tenpai.
