🪴 🥩 Presenting: Pure Pradaplant 🌱 🍖
I’m pretty proud of this month’s deck. I love Predaplant and it feels good to use it at a higher level of competition. I started off using the deck in the Duel Triangle event, crafting a decent “anti-Tenpai-ish” brew, then decided to take it to ladder and had a ton of success.
The deck operates on a strange axis. Ideally, this deck is insane at going 2nd. Ignoring hand traps and deep drawing / thinning for Super Poly is a very strong strategy. If it weren’t for Tenpai I’d have built the deck entirely around this Strat. However, I had to meet somewhere in between.
The deck doesn’t really care if it goes 1st or 2nd. I bounced between going 1st and 2nd throughout the season with a few deck changes but ended on this build which does go 1st a bit better. It aims to either establish 1-2 SPolys with Planning (level modification, full board negation while Dragostapelia is on field, and a pop in GY) or TTT/Thrust into DBarrier and win turn 3. Regardless, the plan is to survive turn 2 and win turn 3.
Deck Editing / Personalization :
- Lonelier does great in this deck, but is an absolute hand trap magnet and never resolves. For this reason I cut it. It also interferes with the going 2nd power level.
- Extra deck: Extremely tight. Ideally you’d be running a 2nd Garuda, 2nd Swamp, a Draco-Equiste and other SPoly targets. The issue is your using SPoly to both break boards and do your own combos so balancing the halves is difficult. I also played with Cicada King a bit and this was nice but eventually cut him off and on.
- Squid is nice for OTKs but can be trimmed.
- Orchid is nice for floodgate decks but I will admit he didn’t come up super often.
- Cobra… man this stupid thing is GLUED to your hand and is an insane hard Garnet. Run 2 if you want, but if you draw both your basically auto-losing. The deck desperately needs a simple monster reborn monster eff.
Matchup Win Spread:
- Vs. Tenpai: 50% going 1st 90% going 2nd.
- Vs. Ritual Beasts: 25% 1st 0% 2nd (idk how to beat this deck with Predap.)
- Vs. Yubel: 70% 1st and 2nd.
- Centur-ion: 70% 1st and 2nd.
- Snake-Eyes FK: 50% 1st and 60% 2nd (They outgrind).
- VV: 50% 1st and 2nd (requires deviation from SPoly baseline plan).
