Notes & Combos

Finally got to Master 1 with one of my favorite decks of all time: SHS Snake-Eye, a far more based version of the deck than FKSE.

It surprisingly has a great Tenpai matchup (went 13-2), since they always let you go first and your two engines eats handtraps alive (except Maxx "C" which you have Bagooska anyways) while your full endboard can eat boardbreakers like Lightning Storm or goads them into dumping most of their hand with Forbidden Droplet, only to lose to handtraps or S:P Little Knight / Promethean Princess.

If they fail to OTK you, you either already have starters to OTK them back or can draw them to close out the game quickly.

What's with the non-engine?

The non-engine is tech'ed to counter Tenpai (and some other decks as a byproduct) with Ogre, D.D. Crow, and Talents to make their experience as miserable as possible. I feel a bit sad that I don't have Bystials or Nibiru, but either of them are terrible against Tenpai.

How did the Poplar hit affect SHS Snake-Eye?

As I said before, the Poplar hit isn't as bad for SHS Snake-Eye as the SHS engine is already doing the heavy lifting for the Snake-Eyes deck (it's still more consistent than FKSE) and the deck was never trying to play for the long term grind anyways.

SHS Snake tries to win fast (though with smart resource management, it can at least try to reconstruct its board for Turn 3), though the loss of 2nd Poplar means the Snake-Eyes engine is more fragile than ever.

What's next with SHS Snake?

I think SHS Snake-Eye has finally been optimized and there's very little changes that can be made to the deck besides non-engine options and the possibility of new inclusions like more SHS cards or Snake-Eyes Diabellstar.

As for the future, I believer SHS Snake-Eye will be superseded by Fiendsmith Snake-Eye if Moon and Beatrice are legal by the time the engine is legal in Master Duel. This is because Fiendsmith Snake-Eye plays in a similar way but with a more compact and less bricky engine.

Still, I truly believe in the SHS Engine's worth as a consistency engine, being able to complement the Azamina and/or Fiendsmith cards in making the deck more resilient to handtraps while increasing the ceiling to absurd levels.

Wakaushi's time as Snake-Eye Ash might be waning, but he can easily don the mantle again, because he's the GOAT.
