Notes & Combos

Changes made from last season:

-2 D Fissure / Macro Cosmos

-1 Big Bang -1 Birth

+2 Called By

+1 DRNM

Called by is just too good in the current meta not to play (Garunix, Phantom, Lo), and I wanted to optimize consistency so I decided to cut some non-essential engine cards. Birth only works as a 2 card combo when paired with Riseheart/Fenrir so 2 felt fine. Big Bang gives you an extra body for your combo but I just don't think it's worth it for how bricky it is. What matters more is whether you can play or not. If you can get to Shangri + Riseheart, you're already doing fine and I'm willing to live with one less body at that point.

D-Fissure & Macro are cards that are good but also heavily coin toss dependant, and I ultimately dropped them for other options and to keep the overall deck count at 40.

Very happy with DRNM. It's not theoretically the best vs the full boards of any of the top decks, but against some half boards it can be very strong. It's a nice option to see off of Prosp, and can also be really good when your opponent gives you a couple draws off of Maxx C to end on a better board.

Stats on this deck over 185 games between last season and this season:

61.08% win rate

73.79% going 1st

45.12% going 2nd

I think the win rate fairly reflects the strength of this deck which is gonna be below the top tier decks. However, you're still gonna be able to climb at a 60% win rate. I was able to hit 1649 points in Rating last season.

Some tips:

  • Shifter: always Draw Phase (if you chain Shifter to a Saffira, they can still use Saffira's GY effect to go into Skull Guardian and Lo which gives them a negate)
  • Maxx C: evaluate if you can play if they just pass, if you can, activate in Draw Phase, if you can't, hold it
  • Shifter + Maxx C can actually be quite tricky and depends on your hand, blindly activating both can actually just lose you the game right on the spot
  • vs Yubel: don’t summon Ogre in attack going first because Yubel can 3 shot OTK you through Maxx C and Shifter
  • vs Voiceless: Gamma is live vs Sauravis if they negate your summon with no other monsters on the board, one good way to force out the negation is by going into Dark Armed (Voiceless is a really tough matchup. Under Shifter, they can set up 2 interruptions by going Lo place Radiance, Radiance summon Sauravis)
