I said that last season was my most difficult in a while, and this felt even worse. There is only one change from S32: Red Reboot out, Dark Ruler in.

At this point, I would like you to consider my posts to be a mere record of what has been done with World Legacy in ranked, and NOT a reference for how to build Crusadia/Mekk-Crusadia/WL right now. I am really unhappy with the current blind 2nd draw-the-out gameplay because of how sacky 1st-turn boards remain and how impossible it is to play this poorly balanced game without opening non-engine.

HTs vs Breakers

You can probably sense from ladder play that board breakers beyond Duster are becoming core non-engine even for go-1st decks. I have been sacked by Duster, Evenly, Lightning Storm, and even HEAVY STORM on turn 3 after breaking the opponent’s board and setting up a pitiful WL Secret. On one hand, Yubel and FKSE don’t have interactions with S/T, so blowout S/Ts can be really strong. On the other, you really feel like a cuck activating Evenly into a Skull Guardian or Cosmic Blazar. I’m more uncertain now on this debate, but persisted with a HT-dominant lineup as I didn’t want to get too adventurous with my build mid-climb.

Why Suddenly DRNM?

Backrow removal is important for sure, but Red Reboot was dead in hand a little too often this season. Besides Duster, then, the realistic options are Lightning Storm, Heavy Storm, and Cosmic Cyclone. Cosmic only hits 1, and I am pretty much done with 1-for-1 breakers. I have long soured on Lightning Storm because of my greater emphasis on the midrange game; I often get into top-deck situations due to my lack of recursion and sustain, and with hands being this tight against the infinite value of meta decks, I simply cannot afford to draw LS on turn 6 or something. Perhaps this is misguided, but I prefer to keep my draws playable. Heavy Storm runs into the same issue, except it expedites scoop phase after it also destroys WL Secret. Lmao

What about Evenly? The fact that I’ve replaced Reboot with DRNM should tell you where my head is at re: breakers. I ain’t going from a true blue sacky blowout breaker like Reboot to a weak aura Evenly that just gets cucked by a 4000 attack monster that is way too easily cheesed out…or that leaves a 2400 Apollo to negate my NS. Seriously though, the only monster breakers I’d consider in this day and age are those to which your opponent cannot respond. There is no space for Super Poly in this deck; Ultimate Slayer and Kaijus are 1-1; I can’t use Lava Golem or Sphere Mode unlike Cheesekanko; I cannot afford Droplet’s discard…so what’s left? That’s how I ended up on DRNM.

Still, I’m really undecided. This slot could very well have just been a 3rd Veiler instead, but I do not ever want to go below 13 backrow for column creation purposes. Maybe this will change.

What Next?

Simply put: Always been a fan of Jesse Kotton, got enthralled by his 60 pile at WCS. Always been a fan of 60 piles ever since Hiera’s Tetsukai Remote-winning Mekk-Crusadia list from 2022. Really want to explore using the GY as a 2nd hand for World Legacy given how terribly tight hand resources have become. Will revisit my 20 saved 60c lists and see if I can switch back to going 1st, because going 2nd really feels bad.
