Notes & Combos
My previous lists go more into detail regarding how this deck plays so check them out if you're interested. I also hit DLv Max with this deck.
Grinding to M1 was the same level of challenging as usual, and I didn't struggle too much. I took my time this season but the duels felt the same difficulty throughout the month. I did try some new changes with the deck that gave me some variety.
Changes:
- Knightmare Iblee for Capshell
- I tried Iblee in previous seasons and it was strong but never something I'd consider keeping permanently. After playing with Iblee again this season, I still feel the same. It's powerful in this meta, but it may not have the same usefulness in the future.
- Slumber is amazing in keeping the lock in place and if you don't have that card, reviving Iblee in your opponent's MP2 and then using I:P to make S:P can re-lock your opponent.
- Herald of Pure Light for Onibimaru
- Onibimaru never came up in a duel whereas this card was useful in some duels.
- Besides the most "toxic" way of using this card to recycle your Maxx C, it is also super useful in returing cards to your ED. Since you return a card to the ED instead of the main deck, you also don't need to shuffle a card back. If you use all your link summons, this is a good way to get 1-2 back into the ED.
- Evenly Matched
- I was sick and tired of the monster negate heavy boards in this meta so I decided to add Evenly to my deck, bringing it to 43 cards. You ideally want to play Runick Spright at 40, but I didn't face consistency issues caused by running Evenly at 3. There also isn't any 3 cards that I would cut to fit Evenly at 40 cards.
- Made my duels against Yubel in particular very easy if I drew it going second. It's such a strong card against most meta decks in that you can force out a lot of disruptions, even if it doesn't break their board entirely.
- Going first, it serves as good discard fodder. You're never really "wasting" the card regardless of how the coin decides to land.
- People don't ever expect it to be set face-down, which can win you games if you survive the battle phase.
Overall, the deck, as always, is fun to play. My main motivation grinding to M1 was to get the title that requires you to play Rating Duels 3 different seasons. Tenpai releasing next month will probably take me off this deck, but maybe I'll try and see how it fares against them. Sparking Zero release will also probably cease most of my MD hours anyways lol.
