Notes & Combos

Hello! It's QuarkStorm here in time before the end of the season!

Throughout the climb, I achieved a 11 games winstreak (from late Diamond 4 to early Diamond 1) then went into "Labbing" mode. I decided that 55 cards would be good especially with the addition of the Gamma package. → There are exactly 11 one ofs here (2 of them we don't want to see: Driver as well as Lovely) and 2 of them I count as semi-bricks: Spirit and Yubel. They are materials to go into Phantom of Chaos but we either need Nightmare Throne/Pain or the 0/0 fiends to do so.

The deck itself tends to be quite recursive and dominant as long as not too many handtraps are played. This is why we, most of the time, try to bait our opponent and then go in for a good turn.

Ghost Belle is here to negate some nasty cards such as Nadir Servant, Called by the Grave, Promethean Princess, Flamberge Dragon (they will be going to chainblock it but if it works it hits hard), Saffira, Fire King Kirin... I'm quite sure there are other cards I could add and I might add one Ghost Belle but 3 seems a bit excessive.

Arias makes a perfect candidate at 3 to alleviate a potential Lovely in hand. It's also really useful to close games as it can summon Lady in ATK. She's useful to secure some answers if you go 2nd and can shut down some plays altogether with Daruma.

But the MVP card of the decklist has to be Crackdown. This card subtitutes itself as your "Normal Trap" since it is face-down and they will assume so since you play Labrynth. It's a clutch card; wins some games on its own; and I've never been so happy to steal a Phantom of Chaos to disrupt their play.

All in all, the learning experience was quite satisfying. I would say I still have things to realize for sure but the more I play this variant, the more I realize how well two archetypes can benefit from being played together. I can't tell you how many times I resolved Big Welcome in GY while having Phantom of Chaos on field.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Also, as always, I would like to thank "Jay in 4K", "MScizor" and the Labrynth branch from the Mdm Discord.
