Notes & Combos
Finally after a very very long time of choosing whether to grind for gems and tickets on the Events or face the sweatiness in Ranked, I've made the climb to M5.
Doing so during a format / season as toxic as this with Tenpai Dragon was the cherry on top.
Anyway, on to the deck: standard Chimera deck with Diabellze pack to force the opponent to quit the moment you summon her.
Diabellze's ability as a floodgate to single-handedly cripple any deck coupled with the disruptions and negations Chimera packs is what drew me to try this archetype again.
Tech choices:
-
Droll: very strong this format. Effectively buys you a turn most of the time.
-
TBGL: this card really is "the goat". It's utility to stop anything for a turn with the right read shouldn't be ignored. Great discard fodder for Apprentice or Super Poly, and combos with Beatrice. Any deck that can reliably send it to the GY should main it IMHO.
-
Morrian: in theory is an alternate way to summon Diabellze and a disruption. In practice I only set it once with it's own effect and never got to use it because my opponent scooped, lol.
-
Dagda & Scythe: one-sided Anti-Spell Fragrance and Scythe Lock in the same deck? Yes please! If Diabellze on the field already makes half the opponents quit, summoning Dagda makes it easier for them to choose surrendering over losing a turn and then losing the duel anyway.
-
Double Chimera King: most decks pick 2 Berformet King over Chimera. Personally I feel double Chimera to be better: you can summon from the GY Apprentice, Berfomet, Gazelle or Swordknight to trigger Dagda; and let's you recurse Diabellze; the hand rip is always welcome.
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!
