Notes & Combos

In the Fiendsmith Era it's pile or be piled on.

This is easily, the worst format I have ever experienced. In a format where the best deck is miles above everything else, you need your handtraps to blow your opponent out of the water and need to tailor your deck to countering that specific deck.

Handtraps Ghost Belle and Retaliating C are specifically there to counter Azamina. Specifically - Belle counters when Wanted is chained after Hallowed, and Retaliating C just counters Hallowed. Whenever I've resolved those my opponent usually scoops. Retaliating C is annoying as a body when you have Ostinato in hand but its much more worth it to stop your opponent flat and link it off to search Max C to stop them for a 2nd turn.

Nibiru has a similar problem where it turns off ostinato but it doesnt add you follow up for another turn, it also must be timed almost perfectly otherwise another body will turn into Moon -> Full Fiendsmith combo. The idea of this deck is to draw handtraps that end your opponents turn immediately or have enough gas to push through the swarm of negates your opponent may hit you with. If Ash Blossom didn't stop Max C or Fuwa I wouldn't run it.

Niche Points

This deck is super combo heavy, with Ostinato being your best opener and gets to to a refrain and the Odd-Eyes XYZ on your 5th summon, which will insulate you from nibiru since when it hits the field (ordinarily you link it off for cross sheep) to trigger the effect and the fusion xyz omni in the cross sheep zone. However I wanted to highlight the interplay between the cards.

The Melodious engine:

  1. Gets bodies on the field for link climbing
  2. Sets up pendulum scales for light monsters (specifically diviner since Lo is a level 1, but Saffira can be linked off then used to ritual summon from the GY)
  3. Gest you into the snake eye line by using 2 refrains to XYZ to infernal flame banshee who adds poplar
  4. Through Ostinato - Get you cross sheep, a fusion monster in the cross sheep zone, and an omni negate before normal summoning

With Cross sheep - due to the ordering of the effects, it is possible to draw 2 cards, discard the monster you want to special summon, then special summon it from the graveyard.

I could go on and on about this deck - super combo intensive and you will often run out of both monster and spell zones on the field if mistakes are made, but its strong enough to blow 90% of decks out of the water, and the other 10% are players playing 2 lava golem.
