Notes & Combos

This season was an extremely painless climb; Varudras really does put this deck over the top. Standard endboard is a 2/3-mat Appo + Phantom + Varudras with Soul of Rage in GY. Some notes on the differences in this list and most popular build I see floating around & how you pilot it:

  • Abominable Chamber >>>>>> Escape. Helps you play around breakers and layers your endboard way more.
  • Super Producer comes up a lot both in your one-card Beckoning Beast/Spirit Gates combos and as a target to break the Sharvara fiend lock in grindier games. I don't think you can cut it.
  • Cross-Sheep is a critical extender that helps with both playing through/around interrupts and normalizing your Samsara lines. Not cuttable until Fiendsmith imo.
  • I like Mature Chronicle because it's good in the grind and enables some cool two-card lines, probably cuttable though.
  • Gryphon is the Tenpai killer. Every time I was forced first I'd end on it and most of the time I won. With Yama in grave it beats any one breaker and frequently two.
  • The extra is too tight to play Elf now imo. Too situational and most of the time made too late in the combo unless you opened a two carder with Beckoning Beast. I never missed it during my climb.

A few notes on each replay:

  • 1/12 - 22:06:59: Second-to-last game before rank-up. Lost the die roll vs Tenpai. Good example of how difficult Gryphon is to out for that deck specifically.
  • 1/12 - 7:55:30: This was mostly me and my opponent staring at each other until we unbricked. Shows how the deck deals w handtraps.
  • 1/12 - 7:26:04: Lost die roll vs Math Lab. Squirmer helps dodge the Equation Cannon.
  • 1/12 - 6:57:22: Very funny game vs Voiceless, shows the basic Purulia line.
