Notes & Combos

Took a few months, but after a ton of testing, I've finally managed to find the perfect RDA decklist. Shame its so close to centurion, but im happy that its done.

As usual, here's the link to my youtube video that showcases my best replays:

https://youtu.be/ZvLdmGzCbqU (If the link doesn't work, try copy pasting into google)

I also added my matchup table at the end of that video. Overall, it was a pretty smooth climb, mainly cuz i got to farm tear players. I reached M5 with a 76% wr (26-8), and a coin toss win rate of 41% (14-20).

Why did i choose to go upto 50 cards?

Well the answer is simple. The meta currently allows us to move upto 50 cards, and still maintain the same consistency as the 40ish card versions, whilst also reducing ur chances to draw bricks.

There are primarily two reasons for this:

  1. Bystials are back to being somewhat relevant again: This is mainly cuz of tear, but there are other decks coming in the near future, like yubel and voiceless voice, that also dont like facing bystials. So this allows us to use bystials as both handtraps and extenders.

  2. Droll is back: Previously, moving from 44 to 50 meant a 6% reduction in ur ability to draw answers to maxx c. But with droll being relevant again cuz of fire king, you can now add droll to offset that increase. So now droll acts as both a maxx c answer and a very solid handtrap.

Stats

44 Cards RDA List (-3 Lubellion, -1 Saronir, -1 Regained, and -1 Droll):

  1. Chance to draw 1 handtrap: 94% (18/44), with bystials
  2. Chance to draw 2 handtraps: 70% (18/44) with bystials
  3. Chance to draw 1 starter: 91% (16/44)
  4. Chance to draw 1 bystial: 31% (3/44)
  5. Chance to answer maxx c: 60% (7/44), with droll

This version:

  1. Chance to draw 1 handtrap: 93%, with bystials (20/50)
  2. Chance to draw 2 handtraps: 67% (20/50)
  3. Chance to draw 1 starter: 87% (16/50)
  4. Chance to draw 1 bystial: 54% (7/50)
  5. Chance to answer maxx c: 60% (8/50), with droll

So as you can see, we only trade 4% starter consistency for a 23% increased chance to draw bystials. Everything else is roughly the same. But here's the thing, the pure version needs the higher starter consistency rate. This is because they cant consistently draw bystials to extend past abyss + pater, without uvualoop. So you need the extra starter consistency to mill uvualoop. In the bystial version, you can just use a bystial instead.

So imo, pure just isnt good anymore. If I have to play pure again cuz bystials fall out of relevance, or cuz droll is bad, I'd rather not play RDA at all. This is because u just end up losing to any and all well placed handtraps.

The only extra deck addition is Kyubi. It was either kyubi or psychic end punisher. I went with kyubi, as if you get interrupted on soul, u dont get dark locked, so u can still make a powerful monster in kyubi that can solo win games.

Potential Changes

The only cards that I would consider changing in this deck are as follows:

  1. Handtraps: These are format specific. Maxx c, ash and imperm are always core. But veiler, droll, and nib are variable. For eg: you can try 3 droll if you're facing fire king a lot, as its far better than veiler in that matchup.

  2. Skull Meister/Wildwind/2nd Synkron: You have to pick one.

Skull meister is searchable and its really good in a meta with graveyard effects, especially on ur turn.

Wildwind is a must against shifter decks, as bone cant special summon itself.

2nd synkron unlocks a line that allows you to make supernova + pater, if u have access to synkron + soul. But this comes at the cost of seeing synkron in ur hand 10% of the time more, which I dont like.

  1. Flame Crime: If this card comes out, it might be worth including, as red reign is fairly powerful.

Combos:

For combos, the main ones are as follows:

  1. 1 card combo (if you only have Soul or access to soul in hand) - Summon soul to add bone. Discard a random card with bone to special bone. Then send crimson to grave and reduce soul's level. Synchro into red rising, summon crimson from grave and activate its effect to summon vision and sykron from deck/hand. At this point if your opponent has nibiru it will show. Then go into scarred with crimson and red rising. Then go into dis pater with scarred and visions, chain blocking vision search with scarred. Add gaia and then use gaia to add red zone. Then go into abyss with RDA and synkron, and add back vision from grave.

End board: Abyss + Dis Pater + Gaia + Red Zone.

  2. 2 card combo - For this you need a way to get both crimson and ubvualoop into the grave. This can only be done if you can use both of bone's effect to discard these two cards. To do this you need: Soul/Access to Soul + Crimson/Ubvualoop/Bone in hand.

The combo picks up after the end of the 1 card combo. U use ubvualoop's effect to banish red rising, and then to banish RDA, to summon itself onto the field. Then you use dis pater's effect to summon red rising onto the field. Then you synchro into bane with red rising and ubvualoop. Then you special summon the vision you added to hand, and then tribute it to summon scarred from the graveyard. Now you have red zone active, and RDA in banish zone for dis pater destroy or to summon it with red zone next turn.

End board: Abyss + Dis Pater + Bane + Scared + Gaia + Red Zone (with RDA in banish zone for dis pater destroy or red zone summon).

  3. Full combo - Crimson Resonator + Bone in hand. This combo is quite long so check out the video linked below.

  4. Safe combo - Need synkron in hand for this. If you're scared to go into red rising because your opponent has a bystial in hand, you can play a safer route. Get vision into the grave with either of bone's effects and increase soul's level to go into scarred. Then special summon synkron from hand and go into abyss and then add vision back to go into pater. Same end board as 1 card combo.

  1. Bone + Synkron - This combo isn't there in the combo video I've attached below, hence why I'm going into it here. You special summon bone, increase its level and mill crimson. Normal summon synkron and synchro into red rising. Summon crimson with red rising, and then use crimson's effect to summon vision and soul. Use soul's effect to add uvualoop to hand. Then synchro into scarred with rising and crimson, and then pater with scarred and vision (Add gaia). Now your board is pater + RDA + soul. Now use uvualoop to banish red rising and summon it with pater. Synchro into abyss with rising + soul. If you don't have red zone, you can end the combo here.

End board: Abyss + Dis Pater + RDA + Gaia + Red Zone.

Instead, if you do have red zone, you can use gaia to get vision instead. Then special summon vision and go into bane. Use bane to tribute uvualoop and summon scarred. Then use Uvualoop to banish something to activate pater/red zone.

End board: Abyss + Dis Pater + Bane + Scared + Gaia + Red Zone (with RDA in banish zone for dis pater destroy or red zone summon).

  2. 3 Card Giga Combo - You need a dark/light monster in grave + Crimson + Bystial + Vision. Special summon crimson, then bystial, and then vision. Synchro into scarred with bystial + vision (add gaia). Use crimson effect to summon synkron and soul. Use soul's effect to add bone archfiend. Synchro into Pater with Scarred and crimson. Synchro into Abyss with Synkron and RDA and add back vision with synkron's effect. Normal summon bone, decrease level and mill uvualoop, synchro with soul into red rising. Use red rising's effect to summon crimson and then go into Void Ogre. Now banish red rising with uvualoop and summon it with pater then use Uvualoop to banish RDA and summon itself. Now synchro into Bane. Use bone effect to discard the vision you added to hand and summon itself from grave. Tribute bone with bane to summon scarred from grave.

End Board: Pater + Abyss + Void Ogre + Bane + Scarred + Gaia + Red Zone (with RDA in banish zone).

Ideally you wanna do this if you can get an empty hand or only have handtraps (other than maxx c). This is because void ogre is only active if you have no cards in hand. You can reduce your hand size by not adding vision back to hand by synkron's effect, and by discarding a different card to summon bone back.

  3. Alternate 3 Card Giga Combo: Same as combo 6, until adding bone to hand. After that, synchro into abyss with synkron + scarred (add back vision to hand). Then special summon bone. Decrease RDA level to mill uvualoop, then synchro into red rising with bone and crimson. Use red rising to summon synkron. Now use soul + synkron + normal summon vision in hand + red rising, to go into supernova. Then banish scarred with uvualoop for next turn. You can also use uvualoop effect to banish RDA and summon it with red zone next turn, if you dont want to protect with soul.

End Board: Supernova + Abyss + RDA + Gaia + Red Zone (with Scarred in banish zone).

General Tips:

  1. Soul Resonator's effect locks you into Dark Synchro Summon, unless it gets negated.

  2. Bone archfiend's special summon effect, Red rising's effect, and both of crimson's effects, lock you into Dark Dragon Synchro Summon. So get your baronne/chaos angel out before using any of them. Also, if u make chaos angel with lubellion + dark tuner, you get both effects.

  3. Going second, you want to preferably synchro with bystial and vision/crimson to get to scarred asap. Earthbound prisoner is also fine instead of bystial cuz you can special summon it if there's a field spell on the board, giving you scarred with soul.
