Note about the climb

Pretty chill climb not much to say about it, decked climbed smoothly from D5-M5 without much trouble aside from going second vs hard stun.

Why Yubel

The engine will either bait an imperm or ash blossom pretty early which means either Hugen is more likely to resolve. Additionally, a Yubel card plus Phantom Pain on field provides you battle phase protection.

Combos

Normal Summon Samsara plus 1 Runick Spell

• 1 Monster negate + 1 Spell negate + Battle protection + Elf revive Back Masq

Normal Samsara > Activate effect to Summon Spirit of Yubel > Spirit of Yubel effect search Nightmare Pain > Nightmare Pain pop Spirit of Yubel to search Samsara > Spirit of Yubel effect summon OG Yubel > Activate Runick spell to summon Hugen > Hugen effect discard Samsara get fountain > Hugen + Samsara into Cross sheep > Samsara + Yubel into Phantom in Cross Sheep zone > Cross sheep revive Samsara > Phantom + Samsara into IP > Samsara + Yubel into Phantom (rightmost zone monster zone for Elf protection) > Cross sheep plus IP Masq into Gigantic > Gigantic detach IP Masq to summon Blue (Keep middle monster zone open for Carrot > Blue search Jet > Summon Jet search get Starter > Starter summon Carrot (Middle monster zone) > Jet + Blue into Elf in right EMZ > Summon blue for link fodder next turn.

Normal Summon Samsara plus + 2 Runick Spells

• 2 Monster negates + 1 Spell negate + Battle protection + Elf revive Back Masq + Draw 2

Follow previous combo until Starter summon Carrot (bolded) > Second Runick spell summon Hugen > Fountain draw two (Into either Non engine, Runick Spells or Yubel cards if unlucky) > Hugen plus Blue into Elf in right EMZ > Elf summon Blue from grave > Blue plus Jet into Djinn Buster.

Samsara + 3 Runick Spells

Follow previous combo until Starter summon Carrot (bolded) > Second Runick spell summon Hugen chain Third runick spell to summon Hugen for draw three > Continue above combo line.

Playing through Nib

If you get Nib’ed on the summon of Masq before you can go into Phantom again if you have a second Runick spell in hand you can summon Hugen again to make Elf to revive a Link 2 from grave since your opponent now controls a monster to summon Gigantic just remember to Summon your second Phantom first before you 2 lock yourself.

Card Choices

Most of the deck stayed the same for most of the climb; the only changes were the removal of Mature Chronicles and the removal of Herald of Pure light for Djinn Buster even though in the three replays Djinn is missing.

Still good as a in engine way to get a plus one

• One Veiler + Nib

Good for Maxx C and Fountain Draws if you have ash already in hand

Endnotes

Climb was really smooth. It might be due to how late in the season it is and the introduction of rated duels in M1.
