Notes & Combos

Its been a while since i climbed to M5 since I dont really like Tier 0 formats, but with the new Yubel cards I just had to try some things out.

Honestly this version of Spright with the tiny Yubel engine is a lot of fun and also really strong and consistent. I have experimented A LOT with tech choices and different Spright versions and this version brought me to M5 quite fast.

For the main combo we need 3 Lvl/Rank/Link 2s on board. This is usually done with Beckoning Beast or Sprind (alternatively it can be done through Spright Blue/Jet/Starter in that case we have to juggle material a little and make sure we have enough at the end). Our endboard will then be:

  • Spright Elf
  • Mannequin Cat (Elf protected)
  • I:P Masq (Elf protected)
  • Sprind in Grave

Elf can summon Sprind as soon as the opponent summons, giving us a bounce. And I:P and Mannequin combo up quite well. If the opponent ever summons a DARK or Cyberse we can Mannequin Cat for Iblee and instantly I:P for S:P. This will Iblee lock and get rid of their second material immediately. We then have S:P 2nd effect and Sprind to make sure Iblee sticks around.

If we draw a great hand going 1st, this endboard might include a Fenrir, Djinn Buster, Yubel Fusion or EM:P in GY for extra disruption.

Our Mannequin Targets are:

Iblee for DARK (can be End of Anubis or Phantazmay/ Chaos Hunter if you dont like Floodgates), Fenrir for EARTH, Ghost Ogre for LIGHT and Spright Red/Carrot for FIRE. With this we basically always have a target.

I have decided to cut some other engines I was originally running, because they honestly never did much, but you can test out and see for yourself:

  • Originally I was running Frogs, but they are just more ways to spam bodies
  • Kashtira Unicorn + Birth gives Consistency and a little bit of ceiling, but I doubt its better than more non-engine or EM:P.
  • Melffy is so dang good but it basically takes all our leftover extra deck space. Its definetly worth running but honestly Mannequin Cat also feels fine while leaving more deck and extra deck space for newer cards to enjoy

All in all with the new Yubel Field spell we gain an amazing amount of consistency, some extra protection from handtraps if we already have a starter and some endboard ceiling because sometimes the Fusion lives the turn and we just have an extra disruption.

Replay 1 (VS Metal Br on Snake-Eyes): Shows just how resilient this deck is going 2nd with access to Fenrir and EM:P

Replay 2 (VS RaignBain on P.U.N.K. Kash): Shows the full combo + Yubel Fusion

Replay 3 (VS "Hamster): Older replay with frogs and Chaos Hunter. Shows the power of the other techs and also the sheer lethal threat that Gammy Ray Burst really is.
