Notes & Combos
Engine: The Horus engine really filled the gap the deck felt like it had last month and the climb was much easier once I found the appropriate ratios of Horus cards to run. Early versions of this deck featured all Horus names + field spell but I found that I kept bricking on field spells and the extra rank 8 wasn't worth the bricks in most hands. I think the Horus cards are likely the correct package to tie into the Chimera strategy until cards like Tao and Apprentice release to raise the ceiling and consistency of the deck. Unfortunately Barrier Statue is still the most consistent game plan going first aside from the Chimera handrip and it significantly hinders every meta deck I experienced w/ the exception of Labrynth (Branded can play decently into it but it's combo is much weaker).
Non-Engine: Maxx C minigame cards are self explanatory as they are necessary to function in the game. Imperm is simply just the 3rd best hand trap and does not play into Talents/Thrust. The gamma package is really neat and I like the cards but I opened Driver in every game that I saw any of the package (Late addition to the deck) but thankfully it came up as a 3rd name in order to make Guardian Chimera. Talents plays very well with the deck as it theoretically enables a potential 2-3 card handrip + whatever hand traps are used by the opponent (Chimera, Talent, Omega). Most importantly it lets you draw into additional engine to potentially extend by drawing into the Horus engine and making zombie vampire if Mirrorsword/Coatl get negated.
Extra Deck: The fusions are pretty standard w/o Super Poly with the exception of my decision to continue to include Garura. The deck currently doesn't have enough Illusion names to consistently get into Berformet if Big Winged is seen in hand so including Garura enables hands consisteng of Berformet + Patchwork to be playable by turboing into Magnum if an additional fusion spell is drawn allowing you to dig for engine. Omega never came up as Gamma never resovled. Of the XYZs the only one I would change would be Hope Harbinger for Hieratic Sky Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis in order to play around the likes of Veiler/Mourner/Imperm. S:P came up consistently and really served as the main "protect the castle" tool for Barrier statue in addition to Guardian Chimera.
