Notes & Combos

I experimented a lot with the deck and this is the list I got the most wins with. Feel free to ask questions! Here is a couple of things I found out while climbing this season (Before Purrely pack):

  • The Kashtira package is extremely powerful for this deck, but you'll sometimes brick because of Birth. You could take out Birth but at that point you might as well take out both Unicorns. Minimum play 2 Fenrir.
  • Shadow's Light opens up a new way of seeing pendulum combos. If you run it at 3 you will see it more times on situations where you don't want to see it, but if you run it at 1 you will not see it when you want to see it. If you play Shadow's light then you need to max out on Level 4 Dark Spellcasters (Except Celestial Magician). It has some draw backs but this might not be as big of a deal than you think it is, just keep in mind the draw back while you are playing.
  • Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer is best played at 1. I tried so hard to make it work at 2 and there was 1 or 2 situations where having 2 won me the game BUT that was only after 25 games. Playing 2 will just increase the amount of time you see it in the opening hands and most of the time you don't want to see it. Don't cut it though, when you need it you'll need it so play 1.
  • Playing without Call by the Grave feels bad to me, the time I took them out I lost 4 games in a row and got demoted because of Ash/Maxx C openings. Yes it will sometimes brick your hand but it has helped me more than it has hurt me. Cut both for consistency.
  • Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer and Oafdragon Magician both at 2 because I want to see it less in my opening hands. You have a lot of ways to access these cards and it clashes with Shadow's Light.
  • Evilswarm Exciton Knight goes HARD with Shadow's light. Going second, Shadow's light feels bad because you miss your battle phase but you can summon Exciton Knight and they HAVE to negate it or their boards are done and you can set up your own board.
  • The meta is full of Niburu and floodgates right now, I experimented with Triple Tactics Talent, Crossout Designator, Red Reboot, Nibiru, Ash, Bystials but they all were super situational and most of the times bricks going first.
  • Everything else that I didn't mention is basically core for pendulum magicians in my opinion, the Performapal/Vortex Package is really strong but I hate it sometimes, change the deck around for your playstyle/card availability.
