Notes & Combos
Picked up this deck on Rating Duels at the end of last season and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it performs on ladder. It holds up pretty well against common decks like Yubel, VV, and Tearlaments. Some matchups are rough though like SEFK and Rescue Ace but I didn't run into many of them.
I'm really happy with my Extra Deck slots as everything came up. Abyss Dweller is extremely good right now given what's popular (shout out to Broc for the inspiration) but you can run Bagooska over it. I wanted to swap Legatia out for something else but the non-target pop is valuable against VV.
Regained is the MVP of this deck - it revives your Bystials, recycles your Extra Deck, shuffles your opponent's monsters with S:P, chain-blocks your fountain, etc. You want to protect it as much as you can.
The general strategy is to control the board while generating card advantage through your Extra Deck monsters in conjunction with Fountain and/or Regained until you buy enough time to OTK your opponent. Unfortunately, I don't think teaching 'lines' is practical with this deck since you kinda just cook with what you draw but the ideal opening hand with this build is to open with/draw into 2 Runick cards, a Quem, and a Bystial:
- NS Quem and send Golden Swordsoul to GY.
- SS Hugin to add Fountain.
- CL1 Hugin CL2 Quem, Quem summons Golden Swordsoul from GY.
- Any Tuner + Hugin to make Tri-Edge.
- Tri-Edge + 2nd Tuner to make Baron.
- SS Bystial to banish anything except Tuners.
- Golden Swordsoul effect to revive Quem.
- Quem + Bystial to summon Dis Pater.
- Dis Pater effect to summon Golden Swordsoul from banishment.
- SS Geri and overlay with Golden Swordsoul to make Dweller.
This should end on board with at least Baron, Dis Pater, Dweller, and Fountain. If you opened/drew Lubellion then you end with Regained as well. This might as well be Exodia because that board is an auto win.
