Notes & Combos

Here is the deck I used during the WATER&WIND event, achieving a ~75% winrate with it. Playing this fish mash is one of the most fun Yu-Gi-Oh experiences I have ever had, due to the variety of plays you have at your disposal:

  • If you want to take it slow and play the long game, take advantage of the of the Ghoti's recursion abilities, as well as Number 4: Stealth Kragen.
  • If you want to combo off and make a big board, you have access to Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth, now searchable with Psiics, to do anything you want. Your biggest concern is managing the board space!
  • If such board gets broken (due to Imperm and Evenly flying everywhere in this event), you have Snopios and Zep to back you up. Just be aware that White Aura Whale can be a great board wipe, but can also miss timing! (but Askaan does not)
  • Some people say Ghoti is too slow, and takes multiple turns to setup. Good thing you can start playing during your opponent turn when going 2nd! With Snopios and Minairuka being able to Special Summon themselves (possibly banning Paces or Shif for next turn), combined with Zep and Hop Ear Squadron abilities that allow for quick synchros, it's always your turn!
  • Everything you do is boosted by the fact you can play a Pot of Greed in this deck! Sekka's Light allows you to draw 2 cards and cycle another with its GY effect, should you draw multiple copies of the same card or something like that. The downside is that you can't play any other spells, but that's fine, even though some spells like White Reincarnation could be a consistency boost, it's totally possible to play without those.

One thing that I would change about the deck is trying to fit Abyss Keeper in the Extra Deck, as an option to summon Coelacanth from hand that you can access at almost any time. Not sure what to cut though, maybe the Stardust Dragon (it's useful sometimes but didn't come up as much as I expected). You could also play Gameciel if you feel like needing a cleaner way to out problematic boss monsters, but personally I just like the "fish turbo" aspect of the deck (if only there was a fish Kaiju...)

I hope you enjoy the deck, let me know your thoughts! Now it's time for you to master the ways of the fish and Swimchro Summon into victory!
