Notes & Combos

16W-4L record in my match history screen. The opponents I faced in my win streak were: lyrilusc, armored + sharks, speedroid loaner, icejade, ursarctic, ghoti loaner, and an instant concede. Although not in the streak, the most common opponent was ice barrier, which this deck can handle just fine. My recent losses were: 1 ghoti who resolved droll, 1 lyrilusc who had both droll and duster, and 2 majespecters who went first.

None of the synchros came up at all. Dancepione didn't come up at all. Cicada was added after I got droll'd after the speedroid search. It's a small upgrade over gossip shadow, in that it doesn't give your opponent a draw.

By the end of my run, I added 1x Dark Ruler No More, but never drew it. So I left it out of this list. Droll was added sometime in the middle of my whole run. That would be the flex spot to make changes.

Please run 3x Piri Reis Map. It takes the place of our missing Lonefire Blossoms. Without it, you only have 7x copies of our 1-card starter, which means a 37% chance of not opening any.

Similarly, we should keep Mudan, Konkon, and Princess all max'd, even if they sometimes aren't in regular Plant Link decks.

My spicy takes:

  • Thrust and TTTactics have much worse value in a format with no Maxx C and no Ash.
  • Therions are always a brick: a -1 to the cards you start with if you drew any of them in your opening hand. The first step to playing pure Rikka is activating Petal's search, which locks you to plants.
  • Speedroid engine is actually the way you can get more baits when playing second into an established board. More importantly, it's the only way to negate Evenly Matched, Duster, etc. when going first.
  • The 2nd copy of sheet actually matters.
