Notes & Combos

Climb was smooth. Deck has a really decent match-up vs FIRE decks if you open Kaiju/Thrust. Hu-Li is amazing, definitely the MVP.

I had lots of fun playing Mikanko this event. Blind second feels like solving a puzzle with the tools given to you by your opening hand vs established boards from meta decks.

Some notes about the ratios/card choices:

Ha-Re (2x) - Not as good as Hu-Li, but I wanted a higher Mikanko count, and it's good at unbricking some hands.

Nadir Servant - An amazing addition to the standard blind second core. Nadir Servant is a fantastic card: Ohime searcher (key card for almost any OTK attempt), backrow removal, drawing into engine, etc.

Nadir Servant some requires extra-deck planning (N'tss, Garura, Herald, Ferrijit) and a pseudo-brick in Maximus, so I run Almiraj + Gardna to unbrick.

Kaijus (2x Lava Golem, 3x Regular Kaiju) - I toyed with the ratios a lot and I found 5 was a good middle ground. You can run a higher count of regular Kaijus and cut Lava Golem, but removing S:P/I:P + Omni-negate monster in one go (or similar scenarios) came up a fair amount during my climb.

Triple Tactics Thrust - Almost always live, and a great way to bait negates if you already have the cards you need in hand. Flexibility is the most important attribute for a good blind second card, and Thrust (alongside Nadir Servant) is the best one in this regard.

Extra Deck - Alongside the Nadir package, I run Hitta for the Accesscode Talker line vs FIRE decks, but this is the most droppable part of the deck, and you can replace them with generically good Extra Deck monsters. XYZ package is a good insurance option if your opponent empty-field passes. I:P is good at triggering S:P during the opponent's turn with the help of Ohime/Rivalry + Rondo if you fail to OTK.

While learning the deck, you will start to notice some common OTK lines. I recommend anyone looking to learn this deck to join the Master Duel discord server (#mikanko channel). I'm not too active there, but everyone seems nice. They discuss the deck and help new players.
